Hello Uwe,
Thank you for your opinion. I would like to build a unique model, which most resembling reality. A lot of the time takes up me the hunt for the details and find the way to do it.
Your model of 88mm flak is fantastic and it is exactly the type of model witch is how the real master. I admire it.

Have nice day.

I made new head lights. They are from aluminium complete. I have to try to make the glass of light with the real structure.

Great work on the headlights. Manufactures of specticle lens might be able to make the lens for the headlight. Their machines might be able to cut the correct pattern in the surface also. It's a problem I want to sort out for my Sdkfz222.
I picked up some samples of lens while visiting a company recently. Their machines appear capable of producing what we need.

Michael, I'm really enjoying seeing your machining skills and the beautiful finish you achieve.

John, I looked at Gerald Wingrove's book, "The Complete Car Modeller" and in Part 2, he shows how he makes his beautiful car headlight lenses. He basically cuts the pattern on a brass die, using files or a mill and heats it before applying to a piece of 1/32nd acrylic sheet. He then uses a circular cutter to release the lens. I like his guide to temperature:

"As a guide to the temperature needed for it to work, heat gently until a wet finger, when dabbed on it, will make it hiss. At this point, place the die on the perspex for a few seconds; if you have smoking hole, you were too hot......." I'd have thought the third degree burns on your finger would also be a bit of a clue.

I also remember someone (maybe Derek Attree?) saying that model ship suppliers have lenses - you could try these people, who I used in the past:

I have some friends whose fingers I could use. The lens I mentioned cost about €0.30 each. I might test the method. They are made from a plastic polymer. I love michaels machined headlights though. Michael, would you let us know what type of machine you are using?

Hello guys,

Thank you for your recommendations. I would like to make the lens look as original. I made the matrix by original lights, but I have the problem to find the able plexiglass 1,0 - 1,5mm strong. I have the 2,0mm lexann, but it is too strong. But I have to be able to make it.
For my hobby I use the Proxxon machines and The lathe and milling Proxxon PD400+PF400 are my favorite machines.I am able to make everything. I love duralumin for machining.

Have nice day everybody.

Michal

Thanks Michael. I am hoping to get a lathe and milling machine in the future. The light pattern looks like same as sdkfz 222 so looking forward to seeing your progress.
