The 88 is really fun to build and as allready mentioned has loads of details which could keep you busy for years

I couldn't leave it it like it is so "modified" a bit again  :D

The brackets for the barrel rest (?) have been "adjusted" to look more to the version I'ld like to build

I've been happy to make some progress on the "wheels section" yesterday.
Finaly I could convince my buddy to make my "mandatory tech check" of his Blasting cabine to be fit for 2014 :)
The results are really nice and i'm quite happy with it :D

We've used a 0,2 - 0,5mm Corund material at 6,0 bar, maybe interesting for those looking for a suitable blasting set-up. The bolts are still in to protect the threads
and mating surfaces

Attached are some prior and after pics to compare the results

Best wishes to all and hope you can enjoy as well some days off now with your beloved ones.

Hi Paul,

I'm sure you'll have an idea what to do instead

cheers,

Uwe

Hello Uwe

On the boggie wheels the arms are cast ones. This is one of the kit alterations that Armortek upgraded. They broke when used. Armortek upgraded them to machined ones.

Hello Lee,

Thx for the hint ! I'll ask Mark and Gill again early next year for a potential "upgrade-Kit" once the new improved FLAK batch is in production :-)

For now I'll use the cast ones to come along and make some progress on the boogies...

The last time I've been fiddling around to get the gun rest done. Unspectactular part but I wished to have three hands and a clone beside to help  :D

At the end I won the "solder-battle" and it turned out quite good now :D

Most of the "fun" has been to get the lever function realized  , but thanks to the one who's developed the magnifying glasses it turned out quite good and is working  :D

Cheers,

Uwe

HAPPY NEW YEAR to all on the forum :D

Hi Paul,

still without the "third hand" I could make some progress on the cruciform bits and pieces again.

The small triangles for the plates have turned out quite risky when you use an elec cutter  One has fallen into the slot of the machine and came back like a shot   My little fitter has catched it directly and is a bit handicapted now   Good luck it was not me

So the next ones I've made safely by hand, better it is

I've attached some pics from what I've made so far ,

cheers,

Uwe

I've made a bit progress again on the cruciform and base details.

On the base I made the "revision-cover" and the grease-port.
I've tried at least to simulate the base-indicator but I'm not that happy for the long term. The smallest I can do is 1,0mm only .. For now the indicator marks will stay like it is, maybe there is later on a Laser alternative on a brass ring possible..

On the cruciform I made one side of the power-brake tubings with all the bits and pieces,
what a "fiddle battle"
The proper tools to make the chest have been lost on "Santa's list" , so I have to look for it myself, soon ....

The power air connector is not really accurate in scale, good for 1:8 max, but for now at least something which is looking like and functional. :?

Any hint where to get these little "brake-connectors" in correct scale out of brass or similar would be really appreciated :!:

Hello Simon,
I'm afraid when it comes now to the finishing and paint-job, which is for sure not directly my field

What you guys are doing there on your models is really outstanding and each one a piece of art  8)

Hi Adrian,
hope this year will turn out better for you !! ( just recalled your "Company-Issue".. )

Over the last days I've been over the wheels and base again.

I've had the idea to modify a bit my old wood lathe and to use it to work on the tires.
What a mess to grind the rubber tires
After the last wheel I've been black all over and messed up the whole workshop
But it's worth, a Flak with tires like fresh from the dealer ??? Nothing for me...

On the outer rims I made the proper fixings and the "protection-plates" for the valves.
The inner rims have been modified a bit with the flat sinks and also the appr fixings.

Waiting for the final paint I will assemble the wheels completely after the paintjob.

On the Indicator ring of the base I've mnade the missing smaller markings. Found a 0,6mm milling cutter so thought to try how it looks like  So congratulations, once started I had to finish the remaining 288 markings
Two evenings just milling on my small all manual Proxxon...

At the end it has been worth I think, looks now as an indicator at least :D

BTW, the hint on the forum to use WD40 for Alu has been great, works perfectly !

cheers for now,

Uwe
