amazing to see two such exceptional builds going on together. This is some competition between you and Uwe.
If interested in any parts used in my builds contact me at johnfitzsimons@msn.com for a price list.

Re: Slow build Flak36 88mm
Hi John,
I know what you mean but I wouldn't say competition, more friendly encouragement
Phew, three weeks without a day off and now I have three days off and the weekend to play with the flak.
"Hang on. Yes darling, you want me to paint the bathroom." so that's two days to play with the flak.
"Hang on, more orders coming in. Ja meine Liebe, you want me to look at your car, it's not running right." One day to play with the flak only kidding
So, after seeing how Uwe had managed to turn the leveling housings round, I had a go myself without the aid of machinery To my surprise it is quite easily accomplished with just a round file, it took about 2 hours from start to finish.
I also managed to complete the bogie hook clips this morning. I used Millput to make the bump out with a brass insert. I know it would have paid to get someone to machine new ones, but as there is no stress on the Millput I don't think it will ever com off. More tomorrow.
Paul.

Re: Slow build Flak36 88mm
Hi Paul
Maybe if you sneak out of bed at 6 am, you can get a couple of hours in on your Flak, before the decorating, car mending and whatever else comes your way.
Anyway it's looking very good, love to see it when completed.
Cheers

Re: Slow build Flak36 88mm
Hi Dunc,
Way ahead of you mate, up at 06:00, finished bathroom at 08:00 Car was easy, crappy Insignia crank sensor floods everywhere common fault 09:00 back on the flak
Made the electrical box out of plasticard, base plate out of brass and cover out of copper. I ran out of brass so I used copper on the lid, its easier to work but I couldn't get the crisp lines you get with brass.
Thanks to Uwe for helping me to get these air brake connectors

Re: Slow build Flak36 88mm
Hi Uwe,
Glad to be of help and it's nice to see some colour on your wheels
I have managed to get by without the use of a milling machine or lathe on this build, but I have stated to run out of things I can do without them. Thanks to my good friend Uwe sending me a Christmas present I have been able to add some of his detailed parts
However, I have reached the point where I cannot do any more to the gun without machinery so I will have to move on to the bogies.
Thanks again Uwe
The other details you can see, mainly in plastic-card are mine
Paul.

Re: Slow build Flak36 88mm
Wow its been a while since my last post
Now that the weather is warming up I can get some painting done.
I am still toying with the idea of adding a Dunkelgelb Camouflage, but I can't make my mind up. My mate said not to when he called round the other week. What do you think
Seen as there's nothing descent on TV tonight, I am sat finishing off the crew. I will post photos tomorrow

Re: Slow build Flak36 88mm
Hi All,
Now I have added Rolf's brilliant air connectors the 88 is finished.
Now its onto the bogies I've have to admit I haven't been looking forward doing these. Having sold my lath and Milling machine some years ago, everything has to be made the hard way or with alternative materials See what you think of these.
Paul.

Re: Slow build Flak36 88mm
Hi All,
One more detail crossed off the list.
All done with the aide of a dremmel, a bench grinder and some silver solder. I can't get much more done this week, its back to reality and work! hopefully I will get time next week to add some more.
