G'day John. Thanks. Yes I'll be doing zimmerit. Hope it turns out as good as others on the forum. I'll be sticking with the kit mud flaps and details for the moment and may replace them with Mike Stannards stuff down the track.

G'day All. I've moved on to the front mud guards. Hit a snag. Mounted the hinges but found I needed to file the hex heads down a bit to have mud guards fit. But then after trying to insert pins found the mud guards don't move freely or sit flat, pictures attached. It appears the mud guard loops are to thick and large. Any suggestions? Make my own brass ones comes to mind.

I did try a washer under the hinges to see if that helped. Nope not really.

I used M3 x 10mm C/S Socket screws instead of the M3 x 8mm Hex,there is a lot more
room under the hinge pin,although I havent tried the front guard on.
I fitted them on before my tracks and the Zimmerit like you said,easier to get in,
especially with the C/S screws.

As for the brass guards, the front guards on my tiger were made using the kit guards with steve winstones sliders, some rivets, new hinges and small screws. Before I started making brass stuff. Must make myself a new set.

Do you have the little brackets that attach to the hull facinf the right direction? Just something else to try. They do look right though.

Or good night if you are not up late doing you Tiger,
Fitted one guard on to see how it was and its fine.
Did you swap the screws for the C/S,its only the screw head I think
that can bind.
Just a slight bit of pressure on the guard and the hinge formed its own
slight angle,which cant be seen so it wasnt much to make it sit flat and
it raises up ok,as pic's bellow

G'day guys. Well spotted. Yes it is part of the brueckenleger IV b. Those are the bridge spans in the early stage. Because of the extremely hard to find information, diagrams and measurements I am relying on the 1/35th model. Using electronic calipers & taking all the measurements from the model and converting it to 1/6 is time consuming. Making the majority of pieces out of balsa wood allows the finer trimming and measurements.

Once I'm happy with it I'll autocad it for laser cutting out of metal. I don't envisage the entire thing to be built until next year due to costs (save money for laser cutting), my limited machinery and skills and scale conversation of all the pieces. I will post updates I promise.

G'day All. Been unable to build much or post over the last 4 days. I have bent the grill meshing and commenced painting the exhausts & covers. I still have to trim the cooling fan grill mesh as I fitted Mikes grill latch. The exhausts need some blackening and then laquered.

I also fitted my front mud guards and constructed the turret bin. When I get a chance I'll get a couple of pictures. Nothing flash.

Those mesh covers should be tied on with some fine wire. Thats how the real ones are fitted.

It will not end up looking like a dogs breakfast mate, it will end up looking like your pride and joy that you will have spent hours and hours to achieve, I have been watching your progress and it all looks great to me so far, just stick at what your doing and you will be happy as the proverbial when its done.

Hi Ray, the fine mesh was only under 1 set. I think the larger ones. This was pointed out during my build.
