Re: Ultimate Panther/Jagdpanther Build
Hello Nick, the paint I use is relatively expensive, as all the 400ml cans are custom mixed.
£12. per can.
I made this mistake with my Comet. If I estimate the number of canisters required, I will have a discount....I need to work this out....think twice......order once.
The spray is in the form of a fine mist....using many 'passes' to get the required finish. It's easy to use....if I decide on full camouflage, I will purchase an airbrush set.
Thanks for looking....regards...Mick.

Re: Ultimate Panther/Jagdpanther Build
Did you see the post I put up recently about a supplier of German tank colours in RAL colours. 400 ml cans for less than €8. If you cannot find the link I will send it.

Re: Ultimate Panther/Jagdpanther Build
Hello John , yes I did see the link, and I have viewed the site. I was put off by the postage costs. They seem to be the only suppliers with the RAL 7028 dunkelgelb available. My custom paint dealers can't find this RAL number on their lists. I was trying to find a comparable colour. So I may try the company in Germany. Is this the site you are referring to ?.
I ordered a book through Amazon, it arrived this am. Some very good photographs.
Well pleased.

Re: Ultimate Panther/Jagdpanther Build
Yes, that's the one. I am going to order a big supply. You will not find RAL 7028 easily. After the war the allies tried their best to destroy the nazi war machine even down to paint colours and even records of them. Maybe a paint maker can match the colour from a sample of tamiya xf60.

Hi Mick and John,
Try this paint supplier http://www.turnerstradepaints.co.uk
We use them at work for touch up sprays which we supply
with all our powdercoated doors, for maintaining little knocks.
They do from 150 ml upwards and a 400ml was £6.00. for any
colour match,Mat,semi gloss or gloss.
Cheers
Phil

Re: Ultimate Panther/Jagdpanther Build
Thanks for the advice Phil, I will give them a try.
I gave my own supplier what I thought was a good colour match in RAL paints. I turned out to be far to 'green'. They could not find RAL 7028. The other colours are fine....I may change the base colour if I am unable to find the above RAL 7028.
There is a wide variety of opinions where camouflage colours are concerned. I know the sort of finish that I am looking for....as there is no rush with this tank, I can shop around.
Thanks for the website Phil.....and thank you for your advice John......Mick

Re: Ultimate Panther/Jagdpanther Build
Hi Michael,
Nice Panther build of yours, thanks for posting as we all forum members love to look at photos.
Regarding the RAL 7028 you want find it in today’s RAL-system as they changed it in 1953 and RAL 7028 Dunkelgelb as we WW2 model builders know it disappeared.
Dunkelgelb or "Dunkelgelb nach Munster" as it was named from February 1943 to September 1944 can as you know vary a lot as this WW2 colour photo shows:

Dust, dirt, sun, dilution and 1000 other things can change the look of it but if you want an easy way out of this dilemma go for Tamiya aerosol can TS-3.
I use TS-3 for all my German tanks.
Or just have one can, spray an area and let a supplier make 400ml cans for you.
Here is a link to a nice site regarding this German colour enigma:
http://www.miniatures.de/colour-ral-farben.html
Hope this was of any help to you.
Kind regards
Kent

Re: Ultimate Panther/Jagdpanther Build
HI Mick
The colour i used on the pz 111 ,halftrack and pz iv is ,B. S. 361 LIGHT STONE MATT + 2g of 102. the B.S. STANDS FOR BRITISH STANDARD The +102 is the colour code thats mixed with it, i think it is white, this goes on very light in colour as you have seen from my pz iv pics before it was camoflaged up i have found that it is mutch easier to tone it down with weathering later on like kent said the dirt ,dust sunlight all add up to the paint ending up differant shades .Personaly i go for the lighter coloures like the one i have mentioned ,if you tried to match the originall colour you might find it too dark looking for our 1/6 SCALE TANKS they are still small compared to the real thing so dont reflect the light in the same way the full scale tanks did in real life ,so your paint would look darker ,hope this helps you out . All the best ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,nick

Re: Ultimate Panther/Jagdpanther Build
Hello Kent, Hello Nick, thank you for your advice, it's very pleasing to hear from 'master builders' such as yourselves. I always look to the Forum for other modelers thoughts especially when I need guidance.
The RAL 7028 paint I requested in the UK seems unavailable. So, I will look for nearest colour I can obtain. I like the 400ml spray cans.
I will try the 'link' that Phil suggested, and ask for a lighter shade of the nearest colour. I have used the Tamiya paints before, they have a good finish to them.
Best wishes.....Mick

Hello everyone, made progress on the rear deck, and sprayed the deck with an undercoat.
Assembled the gear cases.
Still very cold, with snow and wet weather....Mick
