Where do you find such a mix of fastener sizes ?

Hi Adrian.

Most of my fasteners come from Macclesfied model engineering supplies, They are fairly local to me and the best thing is that i can go and trawl through their fastener racks and pick what i need (No guess work needed).

They do have a online service but i don,t know if they have anything that EKP cannot supply.

Excellent detail on the pipes and bins. Your efforts look excellent. I like the texture you put on the pipes themselves - it will look great once "rusted" and weathered. Keep posting your work, great inspiration for the Panther crowd..

As the rear plate is now almost complete i have decided to do a bit of work on the hull sides. I found that the gear cases looked a little plain and could do with a bit of detail adding, I started by reprofiling the mounting flanges and adding new mount bolt positions, Coresponding threaded holes have to be drilled and tapped into the hull side plates. I next added a couple of reinforcing ribs to each housing and what i think may be an oil drain port. a final bit of texturing was added to produce a cast appearance. Although the end results are not an exact copy of the originals they do look a lot better.
I will have to wait until after final assembly to see how much of this extra detail is visable.

this is the first time iv'e seen this mod on the forum, i was tempted,but changed my mind,to difficult for me, well done steve, regards simon manning,

The next part added to the left hull side is the "Anschlagblock", This fits around and below the first swing arm on the left side of the hull. I think the purpose of this was to stop the swing arm which points forward being pushed down to far and breaking the torsion bars if the track bunched up on top of the road wheel. This could occure if the track broke when driving forward. It was not neccessary to fit a stop on the right side as the swing arm pointed backwards.
Also shown in the photo is the gear housing which is a temporary fit and the bump stops provided by Steve Winstone.



The next shot shows the swing arm and how it hits the stop when deflected down.



The final shot shows both hull sides with Steve winstone,s bump stops fitted.

I have also had this one on my "wish list" but was unsure if there was enough space between the outside hull / swing arm to make the LS 2:nd Anschlagbock, I regarded the bolt heds might be a problem.
Can you or anyone else please say how much free space there is?

Most of the nice details at the hull sides are in fact almost invincible behind the row of wheels but this Anschlagbock low in its position is actually visible...from the front...but you need to get down (a lot ).



That’s why I want one on my Panther and I am glad you Steve took the lead here.
(Btw, did you add the locking tabs? )

There is a 4mm gap between the swing arm and hull side, i have used 3mm aluminium plate to make the Anschlagbock with the M3 bolts recessed into the plate. Its a bit tight but it will fit.
I have not added the lock tabs yet but will try to get some fitted soon.
