Been sorting the seats out as they have been bugging me alot, the profiles did not look right, so after much research I have shaped the rubber to as close as i can get to the originals. It's a horrible job using the angle grinder, it being very dusty and very black indeed but it's done now, a couple of the seat backs were around 5mm thicker than their neighbours so they had to be reduced in thickness.

Also been adding a few detail stiffing struts to the underside of the bonnet.

How are the other builds coming along, be nice to see some pics? 8)

Now to find a vinyl covering that looks more period. I'm not aware of a paint that would work on the rubber.

Wish I could find one in current market. So far all searching were ended in negative..... except one positive:

https://www.booklooker.de/app/detail.ph ... ippingInfo

but only deliver within Germany, with price tag over €130  !

Regards,
Lerh Chang

+ Updated info: Finally I have found this book in late 2019 from a German book website : http://www.abebooks.de
+ It costs me more than about €200 including postage. But I just couldn't resist the chance.....

+
+ And so far, I never regret about it!

Thank you Christoffer lol, I would gladly pay that price for the m and m Famo book Chang as it's the best! The photos from the field are so clear. The "nuts and bolts" is ok but no where near the amount of info.

Watching this build, I am kind of regretting not buying a FAMO. The size and scale just allows so much opportunity to turn these kits into something utterly spectacular! I need a FAMO... not at all. But need and want are two different things.

Beautiful job. And so much fun to watch. The whole idea that the FAMO was crowd-sourced... is even better.

Great job Phil!

Cheers,

RPR

130 Euro for M&M Famo 18t is cheep!

The one I managed to purchase from a second hand book dealer in the States cost me A lot more than that! (I’m too embarrassed to say how much .... )

. It is however the best of the three Famo reference books I have. So find an Armortek member in Germany and get them to buy it for you ....

It’s a rare book indeed

I think I have got that old vinyl look, you could have a little less weathering and go for more black or you could have a greyish undercoat instead of the red oxide

Hi Derek, no, the faux leather was very nice but a tad to thick so I have used acrylic paint which has bonded lovely to the rubber, even the uneven surface from the machining has worked just fine looking like that vinyl texture. :D

All ready for the top coat tomorrow, that's the German grey weathering that i have applied that will be revelled by rubbing back the top coat, concentrating in the high wear areas like grab handles, foot fall wear, knocks and chips etc etc. I don't know how much will be on show just yet, i'll see how it looks as it evolves.

The undercoat weathering will also double as subtle shading in the recesses and corners but more will be added over the top coat.
