Hello Nick, well done mate, I have followed your build all the way...it's been a revelation. There are some serious quality builds on the Forum....and yours rates among the highest. You have every right to be proud of her....can't wait to see the Panzer in motion. I like the ammunition you machined for Phil.....Phil has been a big help to me.

Thanks for all the suport and nice comments i still feel a bit of a newbe to this scale of tank but have enjoyed this build more than my pz111 ,still loads to learn from all of you on this forum there are so many skilled builders on here and so mutch that you can do to these great models and waching the things that you lot and others have done is great to see. i hope that you have enjoyed my build so far and continue to post your coments in the future there is still loads to do and your input and advise is always helpful .

i forgot about the numbers and got carried away with the weathering only relised when the paint ran out that you said , BEST TO DO THE NUMBERS BEFORE YOU DO THE WEATHERING , I was on a roll and forgot , if the paint hadnt run out i would still be at now i will have to watch that in the future, its like its just you and the air brush and nothing else matters thanks to all for your comment .

Nice work, well done!

There is one thing...black colour patches on German tanks is a big no-no as no record or photo shows such.
However late in war everything was possible and whatever dark colour paint would be better then no paint at all.
If you ever get comments about that black patches as so wrong please then refer to this photo of a very late in war NSU Springer:



The paint is original ww2 and clearly shows black patches were possible.

Thanks for the information on the paint ,i think i have said before that your knoledge knows no boundries where german tanks are concerned,i i find it most interesting . I was wondering if they ever used black paint on german tanks and as most pics in books are black and white you just carnt tell . Yet again you have helped me out with an explanation that it is not imposable that it wasnt used with the domed hubs and black paint my pz4 is something of a rarity .thanks for your help again ,best wishes,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,nick

HI to all
I have been doing a bit more on the air brushing now i have added the numbers . After going over my limited books i have i noticed that not all pz4,s had the cross and not all had numbers eather and some had nothing as far i could tell these ones tended to be the latter type pz4,s , perhaps that late on in the war there wasnt always time to mark them up due to being hard pressed towards the end . I dont know anything about how the numbers worked or the unit marking,s or where they would be attached so i have just gone with numbers for now and might do other markings later on . The number i went for is it,s ARMORTEK number 012 .
I have done more weathering on the side skirts and the body and turet it is starting to get dark even though the flash off the camera makes it look brighter ,i hope you can see it in the pics . MY question is how far should i go ,is it just a matter of preferance as to how mutch . The next pics are of the inside of the skirts where i,ve tried to weather it as though rain and water has run down them streeking the dirt a bit .

i hope you all are not too diiapointed with my choice of numbers , i just didnt know what else to do and didnt want to get it wrong ,so 012 is its number , all the best to all ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,nick

Nick she is looking better by the day,I like all your weathering you are adding.
How far to go.
A bit each day or when you have time and look at it again tomorrow when
what you have done is properly dried,and a fresh set of eyes.
Then you can decide when.
With three numbers,as far as I have learnt,the first is the company,the
second is the platoon and the 3rd is the Tank number.
So I think the leading "0"might mean you have promoted your self to a head Quarters
position,possibly the Batalian head quarters.
Somebody more knowledgeable may demote you soon if my guesses are wrong

As Phil said. Looking great. It is building up really nicely. What are you using for the rain marks. It has toned down the camo nicely. I think if you get it out in daylight you will get a better idea of what needs to be done. I would go with more dust on the wheels and behind them and also lower hull.

The paint im using is games work shop paint ,snake bite leather brown and chaos black mixed together to varying shades of mud colours thined out and aded a bit at a time like you have told me the streeking on the inside is chaos black watered down quit a bit ,and then go over it with snakebite waterd down quit a bit as well .thanks for the tips on this air brushing lark ,all the best ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,nick

Thats a nice concoction Nick.
Sounds like the Snakebite brown should be for drinking and
the Chaos black is something for the ladies to wear

I use well wartered down Burnt Umber for the dark and a Dark or
Flat Earth for the lighter one.

Hi to all
I have done a bit more air brushing over the last couple of days and some paint on handles on doors and machinegun barrels . This is as far as im going to go for the moment i need to take it apart to do the inside floor where all the bolts stick up, going to cut some plates to go inbetween them to flatten it all back out again ready for the internalls. this is how it looks for now.

You are getting it just right,dirty from the bottom upwards.
I will have to go back and pay your vidio's a visit of your
Panzer 111.
Because I am sure that Camo is going to look real good on that
rough patch of land.
