PANZER IV BUILD no 012

HI to all
i have managed to do both sides with the shurtzen plates the left hand side whent on a treat but the right hand side i managed to make a mess of my fault too inpatiant so had to correct my mistake today and put it right all i need to do now is the front end plates to finish them off .

i am very pleased with the way they have come out i was not looking forward to this part of my build lots of brackets and angles to go wrong in the end it was my inpatiance that caused the problem ,lesson lerned, heres a couple more pics of the fixings




i have a question for anybody that can help me please ,On the inside of the shurtzen skirts when they applied comoflage to the tank did they do the the inside of the shurtzen as well or did they leave it the base coat ,i am geting close to this stage and need to know before i start ,any help would be appreciated ,all the best ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,nick

Really great job. Bet you are happy with it. As for the camo. Cannot imagine why they would do the inside.

Great photo's of your work,youre Panzer 1V is starting to look like a real
mean beast,magnificent
Love all the parts you have made and the shurtzen is looking impressive.
Remember old Chineese saying(or was it mine).
Impatients gets job done quicker,
little errors are meant to be.
You will have loads of fun painting this one.
Have a look back at youre photo's Nick of the Shurtzen brackets where the
paint has been knocked off and chipped.
The accidental bits can look the most realistic.

thanks for the coments
not had a lot of time lately to do too mutch but have managed to do a small job today that i should have done earlier ,there is a small leaver or cach that stops the comanders hatch from closing on him ,didnt have any clear pics to go from so just went ahead and did what i thought it would look like, it is a very simple idea and was only to stop the hatch from closing on someone while on the move .


over the weekend i did manage to do the end plates for the shurtzen and make the brackets on the mudguards for them
on the original the ends would have been bolted to the brackets with three bolts ,i will make other brackets that are bolted to the ends and then slip over the brackets on the guards just to make it easier to remove when fitting the motion pack and for maintenance in the future.
well thats it for now will be thinking of camoflage coloures for the next couple of days ,best wishes to all,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,nick

thanks as always for your coments.
mick thats good news with your panther hull carnt wait to see your post,s ,have lots of fun
i have got my tracks on at last, temporary will take them off for the cammo painting still not decided what sort of patern to apply yet
after putting the tracks on i was sitting there admirring my creation that i noticed the end caps on the front for the shurtzen were not right ,the top angle was not right so quick job of taking them off and recutting them to a steeper angle dont ask how this happend because the template i cut was ok ,who knows it happens made the brackets to secure the end plates ,these are not correct but allow me to remove them easily ,they just hook over the brackets on the mudguards.


well thats it for now will be trying to get the paint for the cammo in the week i have got those paint codes john thanks will try and get them at my local model shop .one last pic of the beast before i go best wishes to all ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,nick

Looking forward to the next installment. Shouldnt need too much green and brown paint. Itopped up pot with thinners and used about half a pot of each.

your P4 is looking fantastic. I am amazed how all the details came together to make a fantastic model. Your side skirts look great, and supremely strong to withstand RC use. Thanks for the tutorial for all of us "future" P4 builders and dreamers. I look forward to your paint and weathering treatment.

I have got to the final hurdle and failed I used my old spray brush for the camo and desaster struck air brushing is not my favorite thing to do ,so was not looking forward to this part ,it all started out ok but then my air brush started to play me up ,lots of spatter too mutch paint ,not enough ,cloging up ,you name it and it happend well i got the body resonable and then came to the shurtzen and to be honest i didnt know where to start i am not used to such a large flat space to cover so i messed that up as well i would have taken more close up pics but i,m too embarest to anyway new pump and air brushes on the way and back to the drawing board heres some pics of how it should not be done


i will be doing the shurtzen sides again the body should be ok with a bit of tidying up ,i carnt write how i feel so this will have to do all the best to all ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,nick

Mine had the same problem. lots of spatter and clogging. I imagine the real ones were like this also. In the photos it looks fine. Light spray of gamesworkshop graveyard earth fading out as you work your way up will tone it all down. Better to add numbers and markings first though.

When I saw all those different smilies coming up on my screen i thoght
somithing was going wrong with my computer.
Just seen Johns reply to you he has said it all,you might be being too critical
with your self
Your Panzer looks good from the pics you are not far away at all,nothing that a bit of
dusting with the earth etc,and doing a bit at a time and leaving it for a fresh look
in the morning after.
I use 2 Air Brushes one with a bottle for the bigger areas and one with just a cup on
top for smaller areas.
Its the one with the bottle that seems to clog,especially if the paint is too thick.
I havent managed to clog up the one with the cup yet but you need a pot of
already mixed paint already made up,to keep it topped up.
With the Air Brush and the bottle on I start to spray on a spare bit of metal first
to make sure its ok and I stop before the bottle is too close to empty,which is
hard to do if there is paint all up the side of the bottle.
Keep at it Nick
Its a big job and its looking good.

Your probably both right i dont supose their ever was a perfect paint job on the real tanks ,i am just a little bit anoyed with my self i will take both your advise and try dusting it down a bit i have still got one more colour to add as yet mat black for some parts especialy around the edges it is something i tried on my half track and quit liked the look .Thanks for the encouragement all the best ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,nick
