HI to all
have been making the brackets for the dreded :x side skirts and have finally got them bolted on and the rail hanger for the plates :D Image
Image
Image i have tried to make them as close to the drawings within reason ,i am sure that the more experianced builders will do much better than me ,but i am very pleased with the way they have come together ,of corse i have still got the plates and the handles on the inside to sort out to see if they will fit together properly ,i do hope so :) any way painted the turet and brackets ,next will be the small brackets that fit to the mudguards to suport the plates at the bottom, just a few more pics of how its looking Image
Image well thats it for now all the best to all ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,nick

Stunning job Nick. You have set the bar very high. The shurzen are a daunting task but you pulled it off. Thanks for posting the pictures. With the paint on she looks great. Steves drawings are such a help. Hope to see it in the flesh sometime.

Can't wait to start mine but a few projects to complete first.

Hi Nick,

Better late then never... :D
Domed sprocket caps at Ausf H or J are rare and I know of only one.
This is a Late H or early J from 2 Pzdiv in Normandy #802:

Image

This one is with your dome cap, 4 return rollers and late idler.
Sadly it has the older exhaust as Normandy is to early for Flamvernichters.
This #802 got replacement sprockets at a field repair workshop as photos of her exists with the later type flat caps.

Hope this was of any use
Kind regards
Kent
It´s all in the details!

HI JOHN
Thanks for your coments it was tricky with all the angles on the turet and hull but it was well worth doing i think :D it was a case of trying each template bracket and then making it and fitting and then on to the next, steve,s plans have been very helpfull but be carefull some of the sizes dont corespond with the model or viseversa i have come accross this problem before on models .As long as you are aware of it you can work around it or corect it ,i dont think that i could have done this without steve,s plans they have helped :D me out no end and made things more clear .carnt wait for you to start yours so i can see howe it s done properly :D NO PRESURE JOHN ,but i,m expecting great things from you ,after your tiger :D
all the best ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,nick
HI KENT
that is great news :D :D i dont know how you do it ,your knoledge of these tanks is amazing not to mention your eye for detail , thank you very mutch, you have made my day .The domed caps are here to stay :D :D :D :D yipeeeeeee.
great picture as well, thank you for looking it up for me it is realy appreciated best wishes ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,nick

I will try my best but your shurzen will be unbeatable. Your build will be a great help when I finally start. I hope to start building a workshop in the spring. I think the Panzer IV is a more difficult build than the Tiger.

Nick
The shurtzen brackets look great and very strong looking. They won't be bending or pulling off anytime soon. Thanks for all your posts - l look forward to someday building my P4 with yours as reference! I was just going to suggest machining the hub caps flat, when Kent came to the rescue. Glad to know he's still out there!

Best regards,
Bob

Nice Commander Nick,
You will have to do him a seat to stand on,to keep his legs out of the
turret turn gear :)
Barnie looks a nice old fella and seems quite happy that there are no Tanks
rolling arround the land.
Cheers
Phil
