Hi Gary.

Looking good.

I was pleased to finish mine. I see your work bench is as bad/good as mine, I just don't know how tools, glues, drills & bits, et al encroach on ones work area. I need to launch a counter offensive on my work bench having done the road wheels.

cheers all

Charles

Hi Charles,

Thanks had enough of the wheels to last a life time.
I totally get you on the work bench front
I have built a work bench for the panther unfortunately it's got a load of other bit's stacked on it at the moment.
Once I start building the hull hopefully should be much better..

Looking good Gary.

Just a thought..... I don't know if the M5 bolts are just in temporary or permanent yet but the front Torsion pivot and bar need to be fixed with M5 x 8mm grub screws and not cap headed bolts.
You won't be able to get the motor mounts fitted.

Just in case you hadn't noticed it

Hi All

Managed to get my purpose built bench for the panther cleared only taken 6 months...
Now checking the hull plates for fit and finish and added the torch cut plate marks.
I'm also going to change out the torsion bar grub screws for cap screws when it comes to fitting them.

Cheers
Gary

Hi All

Managed to get a lot of the hull dry fitted, impressed to be honest went together relatively easily, need to adjust where the upper side plates fit front and back, the rear plate looks to be machined outwards rather than inwards so there's a gap, nothing that can't be fixed

Cheers
Gary

Hi All

Finally managed to dry assemble the hull, took a bit of work to level file side panels and correct the rear panel however I'm happy with the results
Engine deck this week then hopefully paint full Assembly at the weekend

Cheers
Gary

Hi All

Lower hull pretty much finally assembled, will fit final drives and suspension bump stops and hopefully add weld beads still on the fence regarding zimmerit..
Got some rear deck lifting hooks from Armorpax, just waiting for some other parts so can complete final assembly of the rear deck
I've made a track cable for the reel not strictly correct but happy enough with it

Cheers
Gary

Hi All

Still Moving forwards..
Managed to get the Gearboxes fitted, Greased them with castol marine grease very good at resisting water and put some gasket sealer around the casing
Can anyone tell me why there is a hole drilled out in front of the drive motor mounts inside the hull?
One in the picture, I will seal them off
Started the cut touch weld beads on the rear hull I will add an oval weld bead around the outside
Last of the inner hull parts painted so can carry on Assembly

So far this is the only one thread I have read to ask the question , and no answer found yet.

I have read through almost every page , no early Panthers released had shown this hole until the latest one. Very interesting.

There should be a return roller fitted to the end of the drive case (Part numbers CH0311 and CH0312 on earlier kits).

Picture taken from Yves Mouton's Panther A build:

Hi Adrian,

That's not the hole I'm referring to it behind the main drive casing and in front of the motor mounts

Cheers
Gary
