I finished off the rear hull today, by making and fitting all the hinges and hooks for the tow cables, the steel cable is quite stiff, and it takes some patience to position correctly, just the lifting hooks to fit to the hull, then I will make a start on the turret

Apart from painting and weathering, the bottom part of the tank is finished, and runs smoothly, its started to get an identity, and I painted on the crosses and Afrika Korp insignia, these will be the last pictures for some time, as I concentrate on the turret

I have finally finished all the mechanical and electrical connections to the turret, and with a sound activated recoil, and have made a start on the front mantlet and barrel

hello jeff
i have not posted you before but have been watching your progress
with admiration you are doing afirst class job i have one question about
the latest pictures of your turret machinegun is that a recoil device that you
have installed because it looks different from standard. the reason i ask
is i installed a similar device on another tank i built along time ago and was thinking of trying to fit one to my pz 111 .love the detail on your tank
best wishes nick

Hi Nick thanks for the kind words, I have also followed your build, and was impressed at the way your tank looked & handled
I am not sure yet if I am going to add the turret spaced armour, as a batch of PZIIIs were just fitted with the frame, so I have added the armoured cover to the turret MG, I only have recoil on the main gun

finished detailing the turret, and could not wait to see it with the yellow base coat, the last two pictures show shiny wet paint

Jeff - it's the little details that mark your Pz III out as one of the best. The indentations on the turret roof for the mounting bolts which held the torsion bar inside the turret which was used to counter-balance the heavier L60 gun would not be obvious but they're there. I'm following your build with great interest. Thanks for sharing it.

All the best.

Stephen

last item to make before I start painting is the turret stowage bin, I wanted it to be re-movable, as on the full size tank, so to gain access to the rear lifting hooks, I have made the main body from mild steel and brass, just the sides and lid to make

I put the sides on the turret stowage bin tonight, it really is an impressive shape to build, and it will also sit higher on the turret
