I don’t know if WW2 fascines were different from WW1 ones, but the WW1 ones were made up of smaller bundles of brushwood then bound into one big bundle with chains, which were tightened by two tanks pulling in opposite directions ……

Yours looks more like a long length of bound sticks coiled up. Is that right for WW2 ?

There were many different types as later in the war I think they just used what ever they had locally. I am just experimenting at the moment with size me to see how it looks.

Your AVRE is looking great. I too have been researching fascines as I want my 8 ton derrick to be functional and raise a fascine onto another AVRE. My problem is the weight of the fascine, which is quite substantial. An average full size fascine was 12' wide and 8' high so at scale that is 24" x 16" or 609mm x 406mm.
I worked out the circumference as 50" or 1274mm and just the outside layer of twigs I tried weighed over 4kg.
Have you made any further progress with your fascine and if you have, could I ask how much it weighs.

Hi,
Too much to do at the moment so no further progress with the fascine ,but the one in my photo is 26 inches wide with a diameter of 14 inches and weighs 12.5 kg.

First test of pulling a Gutted Carrier

Testing my Petard, was not happy with spring power so now using CO2, need to make a better dummy Petard, but test firing getting about 12 meters. Filmed in slow motion on my iPad.

I hope I’m not the only one who glanced at your post and saw the water feature (?) as a substantial ball bearing hurtling across your garden to take out the fence? !!

I had to take a few glances and then play as was also impressed with the large metal cannon ball initially

Now working on my second AVRE.

Been raining a lot so decided to make some deep wading trunks.

I like your latest addition of the wading trunks, what material did you use and what fastenings are you using to hold them in place?

Hi,
They are 1mm steel, they will be bolted on semi permanent as doing it as if they were fitted originally would be too fragile and make access into the engine bay awkward. But it will be possible to use original fixings so if at some time I wish to have them fall off like the real ones I can do so.
