a nice start I'm looking forward to further developments
Thank you sir! Trying to keep to an update schedule...

Current status:

Have assembled the lower hull but wanted to install the panniers and upper hull sides to be able to do the welds underneath. Can't do that without attaching the mantle and the rear compartment bulkhead... So ALMOST ready to do welds underneath, paint the hull in dunkelgelb and doing first pass airbrush detail on the lower hull and road wheels. Oh waiting on fancy bump stops from John @ ECA as well. But should be here this coming week.

Here is a picture I snapped today: Image

Also, have the rear deck rough assembled, added the lifting pipe on the engine cover fashioned from 11/32" brass rod, added extra grab handle above the rear doors ala the Kubinka JT (which I am mostly basing my build off of), starting design of the rear deck MG42 mount for my DiD MG42, made a 3D drawing for the protrusion that's present on the upper left above the rear doors on the Kubinka JT for dad to whittle out on his milling machine, and the circular lug above the overhead grab handle above the rear doors (fashioning out of brass pipe and body filler).

Here's a photo showing the details: Image

Ordered a bunch of dress up parts to create casting numbers, add tie downs, dress up exhaust armors, ordered a jack and some other pieces I can't remember.

Hi Don. JT looks good!! Glad you got your option kits. Will pick up mine end of the month at AT...
RC shouldn´t be a big problem. Keep the JT "jacked up" and play with the varios settings / programmings, till you´re happy!
It might take a little (as it did for me), but you´ll get there!
And keep postings pics!!

Cheers

Peter

More progress today!

I've been "ready to flip this over" for a week and since the fancy bump stops from East Coast Armory came in thats actually just about true.

Finally...

Need to get the last 2 bump stops installed and THEN I will be ready to flip it. These look fantastic but do require some modification of the hull to mount them in the scale locations using the scale holes.

Image

Finished up some stuff on the rear fighting compartment bulkhead. Still have to mount the "protrusion" over the left hinge and door. And the MG mount point above the top grab bar.

Nice on the building and modifications, Don. It will be a good JT model for sure.

Just my 2 cent: I notice the 3rd grab handle added on top of the rear hatches. For me it is a bit higher, compared with the one in the real JT photo. It will cause an in-convenience if you wish to add "the circular lug" above later on.

With regards,
Lerh Chang

Chang,

Thank you. You may be correct. Was trying to eyebal it from photos. If it's a issue I'll have to move it. Find out soon enough the circular feature is next.

The hull is looking great Don, nice job on the welds! The grey primer really brings out the details.
Best regards,
Bob

A whole pack of milliput later... under hull welds.

Can anyone validate the layout of what the engine access hatches were? I found this for the King Tiger should be very close.

Thanks in advance!

Got the basecoat on everything lower hull wise. Tried my hand at some airbrush highlights. This was not my first attempt... But MAYBE starting to get the hang of it. Barely.
