Re: DX8 advice for new to RC
If you are using a lead acid battery, there is no problem, but in other cases, check that the voltage of your battery exceeds 25 volts and is being supplied to Module B.
In my case, ModuleB did not work if a voltage above 25V was supplied to ModuleB.

Re: DX8 advice for new to RC
Youngjae, thanks power is 24.6v steady.
Tom, from reading your last post I realised what the issue was and it is now delivering power to the motors. I now need to get that sorted as to get them both driving forwards I have to put the leaver in the NW position and not at the same speed either
. Getting there slowly but surely.
Thanks
Andy

To get them both driving forwards with the stick straight ahead, you need to enable Elevon mixing in the transmitter.

Re: DX8 advice for new to RC
Hi Andy
I also use a DX8 with single stick. I'm no expert but left some notes in my build log.
viewtopic.php?f=6&t=6937&start=585
I also followed that post to set it up to single stick. The only thing different I noticed from that post was that my DX8 had a choice of Elevon and Elevon B. See my notes. I chose Elevon.

That should get the tracks working. The 3 position switch section is for the sound, so you can leave that for later.
Once you have set Elevon, just use the back button to get back to the main screen and see if the tracks respond as expected.

Re: DX8 advice for new to RC
Success at last, finally getting used to the terminology and with a few great pointers from the forum I have motion, sound and turret movement up to now. The rest will come when I start final assembly.
Thank you all, I can now get back to enjoying myself with the build.

Re: DX8 advice for new to RC Help again lol
Famous last words there.
I had managed to bench test the motors and programme the sound all was great. Install check all wiring is good and can only get the motors to go the same way if the stick is in the NE or SW position. Try adjusting, re programming and then they won’t work with the audio module connected!
I have stripped all wiring out going back to basics and wired only the motors then motors and audio.
Audio works as it should but the motors now only travel in opposite directions it doesn’t matter if the stick is up down left or right NW or SE positions they go opposite directions. In the NE or SW position nothing. I have tried reversing one of the servos swapping sides but no change.
I have reprogrammed and bound the tx/rx following the forum instructions so many t8mes I could do it in my sleep so if anyone has any suggestions I would be grateful.
Frustrated

Re: DX8 advice for new to RC
What does the monitor on the transmitter show you as you move the stick around ?
What do you have set under Aircraft Type in the System Setup menu ?

Re: DX8 advice for new to RC
Going forward a stage, following the instructions will get you one stick steering on the right stick and turret traverse and gun elevation on the left stick. Perfect for a right handed person unless you actually crewed a Chieftain or Challenger when you used your right hand to operate the thumb controller, or if you did not crew them and are left handed. Solution, set up the transmitter as per the instructions, confirm everything working and then switch from Mode 2 to Mode 3. Left stick will now have the steering and right stick control the turret / gun.

Re: DX8 advice for new to RC
If the motors are running in opposite directions, swap over the connections on one motor. If the tank is then going in the direction you want, then all good. If going backward when it should be going forwards and vice versa, swap the connections on both motors. If it then is moving forwards and backwards correctly but turns left when it should turn right and vice versa, swap both connections from one motor to the other.

Are you sure you're in the Monitor screen ?Andy McMath wrote: ↑Mon May 04, 2020 6:06 pmAdrian, nothing seems to be moving on the screen when I move the stick around.
It's one roll right on the thumbwheel on the DX6, should be the same on the DX8.
The channel names may well be different to the image above, which came from the DX8 G2 manual.

Trouble being new to this malarkey.
On the monitor screen which is the same as above.
Move stick up both RAL and LAL go forwards, move down then it’s backwards. To the right ral up lal down, to the left rail down lal up.
NE ral up lal centre, NW ral centre lal up, SE ral centre lal down and SW ral down lal centre. This looks right to me.
Thr and rud move as they should.
