Hi,

A little more progress, I've been putting off trying this for a while as it's a little tricky.
1/8 half round beading before straightening
1/8 half round beading before straightening
Once straightened I manipulated into shape and soldered on
Once straightened I manipulated into shape and soldered on
Handles soldered on x 5
Handles soldered on x 5
Should be a little easier on the other side ..I'm happy with the result

Now for some meditation before I attempt the other side

Your not wrong Phil...anyway time to fit Steve Winstone front tow hitch with starter pins, made from steel it's a great addition to my halftrack. Many thanks Steve, I know you had fun making it.

Very interesting bolt pattern... what's the engineering idea behind this? The asymmetric pattern has obvious applications in something like a gear train or a wheel/dolly that has to have a very specific balance. But wondering why the Germans would have used such an odd pattern for what is, in essence, a dolly wheel?

Beautiful workmanship on the whole build! And definitely interested in the engineering behind this.

Cheers,

RPR

Thanks for the comments. The hub was flat on one side ...maybe clearance/balancing issue.

Had around 5 hours to play on my sdkfz7 today so I decided to tackle the front and rear ribs on the bonnet but as usual I misjudged the task, after about three attempts I managed to get one of the ribs sodered. I used 1/16 half round beading. The problem is its got a mind of it's own when you heat it up!

Hi,

Opened up the slots around the sprockets, this was a case of pushing through a small amount of metal to finish.

Hi,

Not to much to report on the sdkfz 7 front except some nice quality upgrade parts supplied by Michal Matata

Your not wrong...I'm trying to resist ordering Michal's front rim and tyre upgrades ...... don't know how much longer I can hold off!

I've got stuck opening up the holes in the wheels but will get back on it soon.

Cheers
