Too good to be true, surely, although what else could be the "best ever" Armortek model??

All Armortek models are good. The Best Ever, though, without any doubt, was the Mark IV

(although I'll allow an Honourable Mention for the Centurion and the Comet).

I would like the US Grant/Lee M3 tank (as in the movie "Sahara"). That one has the radial engine access door at the rear of the hull. It wasn't the best tank of WW2 but I think it is interesting with the riveting and unusual turret guns and hatches. Currently, Armortek has only produced the Sherman (two versions). I think it is time for another American tank. I've waited a lot of years for the M3, just hoping it comes before I croak. (haa haa)

The MkIV is pretty awesome. I'm a "Great War" fan myself and an artillery-lover! Love those big, Edwardian tanks, though!!

This picture is from my grandfather's album. He fought with the Victoria Rifles (infantry regiment) in WW1 and we think this was taken near Combles. He was in for the duration... a junior officer with the CEF at the outbreak. He rose quite quickly due to attrition, and ended the war a brevet Col. Returned to captain after the war. Retired in 1939 as a Major. Was in France from 1915 to 1918... never got a scratch. I still have his helmet, cigarette box, watch and swagger stick! I have not gotten a lot of details about his specialty, but supposedly he was an artillery officer. Which may have explained his survival in an infantry regiment!



The detail is not great... but that's a monster of a tank! Maybe you guys know what variant it is?

I was at Combles, motorcycling in 2017, and went to an trench excavation with a couple of fellow-historians. Amazing and eerie place. The amount of debris on the battlefield 100 years later (including live shells and Mills bombs) is unreal. How anyone survived...

To my semi-trained eye it looks like a Female Mark IV

Daniel's semi-trained eye has nailed it - it is, indeed, a Mark IV Female. Given the amount of mud, this picture is more likely to be 3rd Ypres (Passchendaele). Combles is on the Somme, where there wasn't any significant tank action in 1917, as the Allies had moved forward to the Hindenburg Line in front of Cambrai. [/nerd switch ]
