Quad, Mick, for the use of.

Little progress today on the Quad, the warm weather allowed for a final grass cut and some early pruning. Assembled the Front Stub Axles, with my shaky hands for one horrible moment I thought I had dropped Loctite in the bearing....
I had not noticed the 3x14 pins would not pass down the axle....I pushed the pins in after the half shaft was inserted.....
The tube idea for the winch is good, I will go with that.....Mick.

I have used aluminium tube to clear the winch drum. The weather has changed, so it's indoors and time to catch up on the Quad build......

Thank you William. Moving on at a pace now, figuring out the gear setup, what goes where.....wait for the Loctite to set....do I need to grease the gears, I ask myself......probably not.

Hello all, before I close up the gear box, a genuine question. Do I need to add a smear of grease to the gears or are they best left dry ?.....Mick

If it’s possible its best to run the gears in oil, you could fill the gearbox by 30% then seal the top with either a gasket or a sliver of silicone.

I believe Mark's advice is to dry fit or use a dry molybdenum based lubricant such as Rocol Oxylube.

The tyres are fixed on the hubs with M3 Super Strength Double Sided Tape. I have used this method on all of my builds which suits my preference for building, rather than 'running'. Not recommended for hostile environments......I use Araldite Standard for fixing the wheel rims to the wheels.....Mick

hello Michael,
cant see very clearly from the picture how you have fitted the tyres, but check at least 2 of the tyres need to be the other way round on the wheel rims, I think you have all five fitted the same way, so when you fit them to your quad the tread pattern on two will be pointing in the opposite direction to the other side.

Hello Chris, thank you for your advice. With the double sided tape I will be able to remove the tyres....and I have not yet glued the rims. I looked many times at the photographs of Quads to set the tyre facing correctly....pleased you spotted this error early in my build, thanks again....
Just a quick question....for some reason the 'text' on this Forum has reduced in size, I don't recall changing anything...how do I adjust the size, it's a strain on my tired old eyes.... Mick

glad to help with the tyres,
on the text size, if you click on your tools (alt+x) which is a cog like symbol normally in the top right corner of your screen, several options will come up, click on zoom and you can alter the size of the text, normally set at 100% but that depend on your tired eyes.
