Has any builders reached page 9 yet .Front axel , assembled it but the drive shafts were very tight in the diff and could only turn the front steering by a small amount.
Have now stripped it all down, any thoughts would be appreciated .

I have had the same problem with the front axle. Both drive shafts were as tight as the proverbial duck's bottom to the point that they would not move freely. The longer drive shaft, Drive Shaft D, seems to be too long as, with the drive spring fitted in the diff, it proved impossible to seat the Pivot Pins in their respective holes!

Am I missing something obvious?

Can anyone offer a tip as to how I can get this front axle working freely and smoothly?

I haven't had my hands on a Quad yet but from experience with tank wheels, I would check that the inner bearings in the stub axles are fully seated. If they're not fully seated, that will have the effect of reducing the clearance available for the drive axle.

Thanks for the info. I was a bit suspicious of the diff but it didn't look as if it would make a difference.

Oh well, time to strip down, check the bearings and swap the diff around......

Well that didn't work. No matter which way round I put the diff, the drive shafts seem to be too long! The only way I can get the pivot pins in place is to leave out the two springs but then the drive shafts jam when steering.
I am assuming that both the differentials supplied are identical? I am at a loss and need help or maybe therapy.

Number 14 arrived in Holland nice part's, now priming with temperatures above 15 and in the winter building.

Hello Phil,
Make sure the 2 drive shafts fit all the way in to the diff cups and in to EM0211 stub shaft, check the pins on either of the 2 shafts can slide freely in the slots on the cups and stub shaft, Might need a dremmel with a ball end just to debur the inside of these cups allowing the shafts to move freely and a flat file to open up the slots, If the shafts are to tight with the springs EM0515 in place leave them out, The shafts are never going to fall out,

The diff and pinion are a match set so don't mix them up, Keep them separate.

If you have painted the front axle remove the paint were the stub axle fits on to the axle, they are a nice fit without paint so make sure the stub axle can move freely left to right,
Any other help needed just shout.
