Not sure if this should go into a separate DX9 thread.
Anyway, I set up my new DX9 last night.
I already had an AR8000 RX configured in the tank & all sounds & control had been working fine.

I ran through the binding process, then setup the control & then set the failsafe which is now sorted.

I removed the Rotary Encoder from my DX7s and fitted it to the DX9.
I then tested with a servo in the same RX port that the TBS5 uses to ensure it was working correctly.

My issue is that the TBS5 now constantly sounds the MG as soon as the tank is turned on and nothing happens when i use the Rotary ccontrol & toggle on the TX.

Do i have to setup the TBS5 again, or have i missed something?

Yes, every time you change transmitter or receiver you have to take the TBS5 through the learning process, so that it captures the signal level which corresponds to each of the encoder positions.

As an addendum, and a bit of a rant , I've just wasted a couple of days trying to get a Spektrum DXE 6 channel transmitter to talk to a Spektrum AR6210 6 channel receiver.

They bind OK, but I couldn't get the flap switch to work, which I wanted for controlling the Benedini sound card.

The DXE is sold as a basic six channel radio but it seems that you need a nine channel receiver to be able to use the six available channels

And the DXE "RTF" transmitter is even more crippled - though that seems to have dropped from their website now.

Hi Adrian, i managed to activate the Pre-set fail safe between my new DX9 and the AR8000 RX, BUT whilst trying to get the Benedini working ive managed to stop the failsafe from working and i now cannot re-activate it.

I set the RX into Bind mode, then remove the Bind plug whilst the RX is still flashing.
I then set the sticks to desired positions & then turn on the DX9 TX.

Previously, the RX stops flashing after a few seconds, BUT, now it continues to flash and never activated the fail safe.

I have re-bound & re-tried this process several times but still mo failsafe.

This certainly seems to be a blasted waste of time right now and im beginning to wish that id stuck with the DX7s.

Tim, Adrian, that's why anyone who understands wiggly amps gets my unreserved admiration. You can't adjust electrics with a hammer.

Tim, sorry if this is blindingly (Bindingly?) bleedin' obvious but you did presumably hold down the bind switch when turning on the Tx and have the Tx and Rx separated by at least a metre? I found I had to repeat several times before I was able to get the Preset Failsafe working. As you say, I often got the Rx LED continue to flash with the Bind Switch pressed and Tx Turned on.

It worked in the end though.

Hi everyone

Is anyone familiar with the Tamiya dmd control units.

I've just finished my 1/16 Tamiya superpershing conversion and would like to add an after market proportional smoke unit you have 2 sets of wires that go to the motors and 1 set for power has anyone done this I'm not sure where to get the power supply from on the Tamiya dmd unit I don't want to go poking around and blow the thing better to ask first.

Going direct to the battery means constant on so that's a no no any help ideas would be a great help.

Colin - probably best to ask on either the RCTankWarfare or RCTankRegiment forums, as they're mainly based around 1/16th scale models, so the guys there will know pretty much everything about the Tamiya electrics .

hi Colin, i have had quite a few 1/16 Tamiya tanks, but have never fitted a smoker into one.
I usually remove the stock smoker from any of the Heng Longs ive had because they were so bad and not proportional.

I think most users connet the wires into the motos, then add a switched & fused supply from the battery. There is no need to connect to the DMD.

I think that there is a product called a TARR smoke unit that is designed to work with the Tamiya DMD system and cost £20.

To be honest this is probably not the right forum to be discussing this.
