Hello Derek,

The paint used was imported from Germany. I get them from ZIBMILITARIA.DE

Their website is under re organization so might not be there at the moment. They supply paints in all the German RAL codes including dark yellow and the correct shade og beige for the interior. Think tey supply for re enactor vehicles. Shades are a little dark for scale models but perfect for base coat. I'm using their dark yellow on my Panzer IV and Tiger 1. Comes in good size aerosols. Postage is expensive but works out well if buying a large enough quantity.
Stripped the old layers of paint with Nitro mors general stripper, Cleaned with acetone.

Hi John - I too have a 222 in early stages. I found a nice reference disc with many pictures of a real 222 at the website "toadmans tank pictures" - very reasonable and nice closeups of the Littlefield 222. Didnt know if you have that. He has many photodiscs for sale and service is excellent.

Ray :)

Thanks Ray. I had heard of those discs but could not remember the name. Good to get some positive feedback also. I would like to get some decent photos of the gun platform and visor details. Also interior parts.

I think I mentioned at the start that I would not start this model for a while. :D

Some progress to date.

I do not have a lathe but managed to put some profile changes on the wheels. Hopefully I will acquire a lathe in the future and finish the wheels properly.

I have made new working hinges for some of the hatches but need to do some work on the side door hinges.

Thanks Jeff for sending the spare hub and also the template for the front guard. I made up the guard based on this.

I am in the middle of making some alterations to the body. I have cut the rear section to make a hinged access point. Also making new hinges. I have made all of the small storage boxes, (SIDE DOORS, REAR FENDER, REAR TOP). I need to source some box catches. I am not happy with the kit rear mudguards. I believe the angle is wrong which will also mean making a new set of storage boxes for the left hull side also. Not sure about the front mudguards. Some work to be done adding storage boxes anyway. I will upload some photos soon.

Some more progress on the 222.
Rear mudguards replaced with brass. Changed the angle at the front based on drawings.

Hi John,

Looking good your progress on the 222.

Will you be offering any upgrades once you have made all your parts for it!
Like the basic door boxes for example!

Cheers
Ian

Hi Ian,

I hope to be able to add the boxes for the 222 to the list but expect little interest as so few unbuilt 222s and little chance of future production. So it would depend on interest.

Very cool build so far John, I know you do top notch work. Good to see some activity in the 222 forum again as well! gotta say, this is the first time I've seen a build start in reverse at the beginning.

Adrian, got my motion pack. Gil and the Armortek folks went out of their way to help me, I jumped for joy when it arrived!

Won't be starting my 222 until my 1/16th Tiger is complete.
