Hi Dave
I too would like to stick my head above the parapet, and offer you and your fellow aftermarket parts mnufacturers unreserved support. Those of us who have a business know that times are not easy, and to see someone else deliberately taking your income way in such an underhand way is completely not acceptable.
Best wishes
Steve Stuart

Hi All: The guy's a crook; plain and simple. I have my own Richard Tripp horror story, and let it serve as a warning if you have any notions of patronizing him. Several years ago, I came across SD's website, Which I must admit is a really great website. I could get all my favorite items from Winstone, Stannard, Dibbs, etc., all on one site and from right here in the States. Great I thought. Placed several orders over a couple of years, some large, some small. But all along was this creepy feeling that this was someone who you just couldn't trust. He'd obviously lie about all these employees supposedly working there, because you never dealt with anyone but him, even on the phone when you called. You'd have to pay full price up front, which given the price of things, usually amounted to hundreds of dollars. Yes, he has that nice order status page, but months would go by without up-dating. Some orders on the site were placed as much as a year prior, and still never completed. You'd call on the phone, send numerous Emails, and weeks would go by before a response(Where are all the employees there?). Often, the response would consist of "sorry, don't worry, it'll ship in a few days", which would often prove to be yet another lie. In the end (usually 6 months later), after constant badgering, I would get my order. That is until my last and forever final order. This was about a year or 2 ago. Went through the usual song and dance act with him; Finally I asked if you can't provide the item (which I prefer),refund my money then (which was only $50.). After that, he kept my money and totally ignores all contact by me. Basically stole my $50. The only silver-lining for me is, it was only a $50.order. But typically, it could very easily have been a $500. order, in that sense I do feel lucky. Moral of the story is, if you buy from this guy, you're playing Russian Roulette with you money. Word to the wise.

Hi again. A little "post script" to all this. I can't image how anyone can be in this business, treat their customers like this, and think they will prevail in the long run. You're only shooting yourself in the foot. Relatively speaking, it's a small niche market, not everyone is into this stuff. Alienating customers, and shrinking your client base, doesn't profit you in the long run. This guy basically sold out his integrity, and forever lost a customer over $50. He would have made a lot more than that from me down the road, if he just did the right thing. Was it really worth it? $50.? Really? And I'll bet I'm not the only victim here.

All,

The continued efforts of Steve at Panzerwerk, John at ECA, Mike and myself have started to bear fruit.

Steve has succeeded in getting Steel Dragons closed down on Paypal and EBAY and following complaints from Steve, John and myself his webhost has now also taken down his website.

Whilst we have succeeded in shutting him down we will continue monitoring the web in case he resurfaces.

I would like to thank Steve in particular for his ongoing efforts above and beyond in all this.

Best regards

Dave

Too sad to see this honest shop is gone, but for sure it will shortly recover somehow! Martin

Martin,

I sincerly hope this is a poor attempt at humour or a translation misunderstanding.

Be assured if it does recover we will close it again. We will also do the same to any other intellectual property theives who believe copying what we make is a good business practice.

Dave

Well done Dave & co. A significant and well deserved victory.
I have remarked before that for the benefit of us modellers we need to ensure your survival and commitment by freezing out fraudsters who undermine your products. We can stand shoulder to shoulder with you by not supporting them, but shutting them down fully is ultimately the right result.
This should hopefully deter others thinking of copying your excellent work.
Kevin

Hi Dave it was just a Kind of bad humour! I have had Problems with Richard back in 2010. But for me it turned out luckely and finally got my parts after sticking on him like glue!

Interesting is Mikes comment a little further down in this matter!

Finally you all did a great Job and this will prevent other to get ripped off.
But for sure "i'll be back"

Hi Martin,

No problem, its just a very touchy subject with many of us at the moment so I am sure you will understand.

We all would benefit from hindsight as I also supplied him for some time and thought he was upfront to start with. How wrong we all were!

Ther is always going to be someone ripping someone off and all we can do is work together to keep them down.

Regards

Dave
