Mike, every tire company in the US made tires during the war, but for every truck you find with those type of tires you can find 10 trucks with the standard bar tread that everyone is familar with.Mike Gormley wrote:Roland,
If those are the type of tires that were used on the real one then thats what Armortek will provide with the kit.
It wouldn't look right if the tires didn't match the real one.

I just noticed its the M2 not the M3 they are building.
That may explain the funny tires. The M3 which the M16 is based on is 2 feet longer than the M2. The M2 was built for a 2 man crew and 7 passengers, while the more powerful M3 was built for a 13 man squad.
I think this takes the wind out of my sails.

If your not living on the edge, your taking up to much space.

Hi All
We are currently at rain soaked War and Peace. To clarify some of the above points:
The model will have drive to the rear tracks only, but the front axle will include a dummy differential housing.
We will be doing bar type rubber front tyres, the pictures on the web site on the site at the moment are for illustration purposes only.
The tracks will be a moulded rubber belt with a roller chain as per the original vehicle.
The basic kit will be supplied with an M2 chassis and simple rear body shell. The M3 conversion includes chassis extension, idler brackets and a longer rear body shell. The M16 conversion includes chassis extension idler brackets and a driven mounting for the Quad 50.
We are working closely with Dave Dibb of Armorpax who will be offering interior detail packs, including machine gun rails, seats etc for M2 and M3 versions and a fully detailed Quad 50 ready for the Armortek powered mount. We beleive that this will provide you with the best of both worlds,
giving Armortek quality engineering in the basic vehicle and the superb detail offered by Armorpax to complete your vehicle.
Please contact Armorpax directly for details and pricing. On our return from War and Peace next week we will provide further details and pricing on the conversion kits.

This is the kit I have been waiting for! As a full scale halftrack owner I'm right chuffed! The only problem is what version to go for? I have both a M3 and M3A1, hope DD does a pulpit mount! Might even try a T19 if I can find a suitable 105!!!
On a personal note I would prefer the early pattern tyres and automotive style headlights, but hey, its a halftrack, I'll be pleased with what ever comes out!
If anyone needs detailed shots I can take them, or if in the area pop round and take them yourself!
