Thanks for the reply Phil.....I think I will leave things as they are, my skills are limited and the mark in the hull is very slight....a line score about an inch on the curve of the gear teeth.
I have not used any grease, Mark had said there is no need and the gear turns freely by hand...thanks again...mick

Hello Phil, question about the hull spacers and bump stop.
I know this issue with the fasteners was raised earlier, (fastener to bump stop, screw size).
I do not have any spare M4x8 Hex bolts,I used mine on the hull floor.
Should the fastener go right through the spacer and screw into the bump stop, using a M4x30, which is easier to fit.
I have two spare M4x8 bolts which are difficult to feed through the spacer and into the bump stop.
I will need to obtain these fasteners anyway, so, is the M4x30 a better option?...mick

HI Mick
The floor was correct for the M4 x 8mm Hex
The Bump stops need M4 x 8mm Cap Heads
They go through the one edge only and the other hole opposite gives
access for the tool.
Its ok once you get the screw through the hole and hold it with the tool then offer the bump stop up to it.
The hole each side are so you can make 5 of each hand.
I bought some M4 x x 8mm Cap heads because I couldnt find any in the
Fastener pack,there was plenty of M4 x 10 but these are for else wear
and I think they would have been too long any way.
Its a bit of a pain if you cant get any until Monday now,but I dont think its worth the hassle trimming up the M10's or trying to get a washer or two on,and then you will be short of them for later.

Hi Mick
Even the most patient person cant resist getting on with an Armortek
Tank build.
So I had another thought incase you cant find a model shop open,or a
Maplins shop
B & Q sell small 4mm screws although they are all the slotted head or
Philips head type,but you will still get a small screw driver in through
the opposite hole.
Hopefully they will have 8mm length to save you cutting them.
If you are not sure you can pinch them up tight enough dont forget some lock tight.
Cap heads are the best though,so if you dont mind using your M10's
which you can replace later,then B & Q sell washers.

Your Comet is looking good Phil....never crossed my mind to use the Allen Key through the other hole....I will wait and get the M4x8 screws next week....my Comet is a Autumn/Winter build, so no hurry, it's hard to stop building, once started....thanks again....mick

Good idea Mick its the best thing to do,get the proper screws.
I was just going to mow the back lawn,but it rained so I fitted the Gear Ring to the Turret base.

Hello Phil, can you answer this...
I am fitting the ' EFO127 side deck rear RH' to the rear inner hull side RH.....the fastener specified is 'M3x6 CAP side deck rear to inner hull side'....the screw M3x6 is to short....is it me?.....
The same applies to the front side deck...the CAP/HEX screws appear to short...mick

Phil, Again as my last post, I have lots of Cap Head M4x10s so I have used those to fit the bump stops to the spacers instead of the M4x8s.....all's well, that ends well...mick

Sorry I was late answering,just got back from the Battle of Britain show
at Kemble Air Field.
Glad you got sorted,I found the same but when I bought my M4 x 8 cap head screws,I bought some 12mm and 10mm aswell,the 3mm hex screws
I had some bigger ones left from my Panzer 111 build.
Watch out though because there are lots of M4 x 10mm cap heads needed later on and the hex screws.

Started the Christie suspension,fitted the bush's and axle's,and the tie rods to the upper spring caps,I'll paint the arms before assembling the rest.
It looks lovely stuff

All understood Phil, I have ordered my m4x8 screws on line, I need a 50 mile round trip to my nearest model/ironmongers shop, so I mostly buy my parts online.
I will replace the m4x10s in the spacers when my m4x8s arrive.
Nice to see you have started the Christie suspension, all being well this is the next process in my 'build', so keep posting the photographs ...worth a thousand words as the saying goes....mick

Robert It might be a bit late but for anyone else there is a set of capheads available at Toolstation the diy store ref number 72721 and covers M4 x 10 + lots of other sizes and open 7 days a week just an option.
