King Tiger's progress...slowly

Post by Paul Morris »

Hi Fellas.
Well Ants Panzer 111 is now sorted so back to the King Tiger's :D not a lot of progress and nothing you have not seen before but I thought I would post a few pictures and get this going again.
[Imageimg][/img]
All the running gear on both tanks now sorted and making a start on the interesting bits.
[Imageimg][/img]
Fitted Steve Winstones fantastic rear turret door and could not resist a pic of it.
[Imageimg][/img]
or two
[Imageimg][/img]
As you can see zimm now just about done on the turret and I started to have a go at altering the profile of the gun mantlet
[Imageimg][/img]
I drilled and tapped ten holes and fitted some spare 3mm hex heads to give the Milliput something to anchor itself to { went for hex Paul Cheaper :lol: }
[Imageimg][/img]
I got the rest of it filled out today and will post some more photo's of the finished thing in the next few days.
Thats all for now cheers Paul

Well done Paul, on the back of the mantlet! I have used some kind of putty (heat-harden & waterproof that used on car engine.)

Hi Lerh Chang.
Milliput is the same type of stuff by the sounds of it heat and water proof and can be used on engines and radiators will post more pics later.
Thanks Paul

Hi fellas.
A little bit more progress and a few pictures.
[Imageimg][/img]
Thought I would have a break from the hulls and have a good go at a turret, Simon tried your idea with the texture...I think you mentioned you had an "old tin" of primer well I have a new one here and I have had the lid off now for a full day and its still too thin to use as you have shown I think I am going to stick some in a jam jar to go "gloopy"
[Imageimg][/img]
I took all the track link hangers off and tapped the holes out 3mm then ran a 3mm cap head from the inside and screwed the link hangers on with super glue on the threads when fully set I ground the protruding end of the bolts off with a power file so they look welded on, I am quite pleased with how they have turned out.

Thats all for now folks...cheers Paul

Wow Paul 8)

The hex heads will be cheaper mate, but they do the job just the same! nice job on that, it makes it look hundred times better :D

I've just been fitting the servo for the MG, the sound is in and working and I've just managed to get the speakers fitted tonight, I came up with a novel and easy way to fit them in the end, when I get time I will post some photos.

Hi fellas.
A little bit more progress... all zimm now complete ...last few welds here and there and just about ready to start the painting proper.
[Imageimg][/img]

I have put some texture on the hull behind the side skirts as well in case the owner wants to run with some skirts missing this area will be painted a dirty muddy colour.
Image
I like to include areas where the zimm has come off and in this model I have missed the area on the front plate so that the welds can be seen as well...
[Imageimg][/img]
Hoping to get onto painting the lower hull and maybe the wheels tomorrow so more pics soon all being well.
[Imageimg][/img]
Cheers Paul.
