Just in case you guys think I'm slacking here's a quick update on filling the kit lockers.

I love Dave's tool kits all metal with little fetling to prep for paint.

Preping the spare track links, no rust on these, these are factory fresh. I use the range target tiger1 as a spraying platform , this keeps the old girl in good shape.

I know it hardly shows but the commanders sight was just to large and interfered with the commanders shoulders, so I have printed a 20% slimmer version, it's still very tight in there but it's a great improvement.

The yellow primer is high build and very nicely fills the pla printed layer lines creating a more resin like quality without the smell.

Final, I hope adjustments to the deck hatches so the radiators clear the hinges. Trimmed and ready for the top coat.there's a lot going on in there so do expect a little fetling.

First driving trial as I have now moved into the new workshop and the only way to get it there was to drive it. It so big!

I can honestly say it's ultra smooth, the running gear is beautiful, just take your time setting it up! It's not even run in yet and will only get better.

One for the record books Phil. The level of detail is off the charts. So many fine details. You really put your heart into this one - its hard to tell the model from a real Chieftain. Awesome job! Really like the two tone camo.

Hi Phil,

Just wanted to go on the forum and compliment you on the awesome work you have put into this Chieftain build.

Its has been a fun journey watching you take the already amazing kit that Armortek produce and turning it into a Museum piece.

For anyone looking to have an Armortek kit built by a true master. I recommend Phil as my personal experience through the process has been more than I could have wished for.

My biggest problem now if that anything else I build will look very amateurish. See Below :oops:

Up the ramp today . for some tricky wiring. 8) The smoker has no or little control at present, Adrian is still working on the improved version.

I would have liked to use the lovely slip ring to get the power to the elevation mech and the interior lights but there's just not enough room, so it will have to be a bonded grommet with plenty of cable length so you can reach the bench.

The turret wiring was successful. Just remember how many times you have turned the turret the same direction, then unwind just to make sure you don't knot the cables!

I just can't do anymore in the workshop today as it's approaching 40 Celsius in there but I have endured 6 hrs. 8)
Does anybody have a photo of the entry point of the power cable of the search light sphere please?

I dressed the periscope casting overfill to fit the slot, this helps it locate and increases its robustness.

You may need to set the whole unit back a few mm and just take the corners off the wiper bracket to get it to clear the cupola swivel housing bolts, if you have used countersink fixings you won't need to.

I have removed and replaced the search light swivel with an m3 long bolt just as belt and braces. The gun swivel has also had an m3 fixing added so you can now elevate the gpmg cradle and lock it at what ever angle you wish.
