Bench Test. To begin with....I have all the 'Options' with the Futaba 7C-2.4GHz radio. I am in the process of bench testing the Electronic Modules....I have followed the Instructions, and fitted the Battery /Power/Speed/Auxiliary modules in the correct order.
I have checked that the assemblies are connected correctly, and assembled in the right order. I have not tried to programme the Futaba Radio, so the radio is as I received it.
The power supply light is solid green, all the five fuse leds are on, red. The receiver light is on, green. I have connected the radio leads as described ie,
ch1,turret rotation
ch2,right hand track,
ch3 left hand track,
ch4 gun elevation,
ch5 and ch6, not used yet.
ch7 misc functions.
The turret rotation motor works left/right on RH radio stick.
The drive motor RH works forward/reverse on RH radio stick.
The drive motor LH works forward/reverse on LH radio stick.
The gun elevation motor is NOT working on LH radio stick.
I have tried moving the radio leads at the receiver end, to other channels. The gun elevation is not working on any channel. I have tried the various switches, and nob on the top of the radio.
I have noticed that the turret rotation works on CH4 and CH1.
I am not sure which of the radio leads are linked to the gun elevation.
Please bear in mind...I have not attempted to programme the radio.
My problem...I cannot link the gun elevation to any of the channels.
I would be grateful for any advice , even if I am made to look a 'numpty'....Mick

Hi Mick
I am at work at the moment so I havent got my manual with me to help
you properly.
But you deffinately need to set up your radio first as the futaba radio
and go through the stages of choosing a model and naming it.
You can only choose out of 2 types of model ACRO or HELLICOPTER
I suggest ACRO
Your three position switch needs asigning to channel 5 but on the new
futaba radio's I have had it already is.
Then it is important to bind the receiver to the transmitter by following the
radio manual,or it will not work properly.
You shouldnt be getting any mixing between channels unless
you set it up later yourself.
I will check your postings when I get home to see how you have got on
and I can direct you to the page numbers in your radio manual to make
it easier.
But your radio needs doing first.
Cheers
Phil

Hello Mark, thank you, I have connected the sub/loom/limit switches to the elevation motor. The instructions and diagrams are very clear, so I followed then carefully.
Phil, the Futaba radio is a completely new adventure for me. My experience is with 2/3/4 channel radios. Rudder/elevator/engine, or motor/rudder.
I have not attempted to programme the radio....I suppose I expected it to 'just work', should have known better
I have not yet connected the radio leads for the gunfire/sounds etc,
I need to solve the gun elevation problem first. I have looked through the Futaba instruction manual. I have not tried programming it.
Meanwhile, I will have another read,.....thanks again....Mick

Hi Mick
You dont need to program the Futaba radio to get the elevation motor to work. Check your aux unit wiring against the manual photos and check that the wiring in the sub loom is as follows:
black -1- limit switch 1
brown -2- elevation motor
green -3- limit switch 2
red -4- limit switch 2
white -5- firing unit motor
yellow -6- firing unit motor
purple -7- limit switch 1
blue to -green/yellow-elevation motor
(The black cables in the subloom multicore are numbered as shown above)

Hello Mark, all the wires appear to be in the correct order...although the it is difficult to read the numbers on the black wires on the sub loom side of the plug.
The sub loom/aux plug is so shaped as to only connect one way.
The first black wire on the aux side is loose in the socket.
The radio has linked to the receiver/solid green light on receiver.
When I move the left hand stick, there is a 'click' both ways in the speed controller.

connector
Hi Mick
I saw Mark was helping you out, have you managed to get it working yet?
The big connector for the loom is really tight on the terminals all you can
do is try and grip each half by the plastic and try and wiggle it a bit as
you pull untill you get a bit of movement, its not easy on the hands.
Good luck with it

No joy yet Phil, I have left the sub loom connected to the auxiliary module. I tried to disconnect the plug/socket, can not budge it. I did notice that the black lead was loose, I have pushed the lead back in the plug.
I have rechecked all of the connections....they look ok, I have not tried programming the radio...Mark said it should not affect the gun elevation. The receiver has linked with the radio. All the other units work...RH motor/LH motor/ Turret turn motor. This is as far as I have gone.
My eyes are not to good, so the numbers Mark gave me to check, my not coincide both sides of the connector.
This will turn out to be something simple. The Auxiliary Module 'clicks' forward/reverse when I move the LH stick, but the motor will not run....mick

Phil/Mark....I have now tried the lead on the aux module ( B gun elevation receiver connection ) in the other receiver outputs which I know are working ie, turret turn receiver....no go. The turret turn motor will operate in channel 1 and channel 4.
The only thought is that there is a problem in the wiring or the radio channel 4 not recognizing the signal from the aux module.
All thoughts and advice welcomed....mick

Hi Mick
I think if you have checked that your elevation motor is pluged in and the
limit swiches are as the picture with the connections to the terminals closest to the limit switch fixing holes which are the normally closed set
and would already have been connected, also the little white plug with the
4 coloured cables has not been pulled off that was already fitted to the
auxiliary module.
Also have you tried swapping the leads B and D to see if your turret turn
motor stops working if you use the lead that was used for the elevation
motor.
If all that doesnt work I think you need to check with Mark about the
loose black connecion,it might not be making a good enough connection
and if the internal wireing is such that loosing the black can knock out
both of the limits then the motor wont work in either direction.
If they are seperate then you would expect the elevation motor to work in
one direction while the limits are closed.
If your wire is only pushed in it could cause problems later anyway.
Cheers Phil

Thanks Phil, will check with Mark tomorrow.
I have identified the cables as Mark described in his post....they all appear in the correct order.
The black lead is loose, but not so that it isn't making a connection.
I have tried two receiver leads to check if it is the lead into the receiver, these will not drive the elevation motor.
I'm at a loss now...so Mark is my next hope.
Just to clarify....looking at the TX directly in front of me...
I have RH motor on RH stick, forward/reverse.
I have LH motor on LH stick, forward/reverse.
I have turret turn on RH stick, left/right.
I should have gun elevation on LH stick, up/down.
I still hear a 'click' in the Aux when I move the LH stick left/right
Time for bed....so tired....Mick

Hello John. thanks for your post....I will check again with Mark. The leads to and from the Aux/Sub loom, appear to be in the correct order....having said that, I had to use a magnifier to find the numbers on the loom and match them with Aux side.
I will check again, from my tests so far, it has to be in this area , I have not been able to pull the sub loom plug apart. Onwards and upwards...Mick
