If I had the silver soldering and brass fabrication skills I would re-make the storage bin to make it more representative of the real PIII (like some one else did). However, I don;t (yet) so I will probably detail it a bit with rivets and the wood aerial protectors as well as to make a back for the bin.

I dream of doing one like Jeff did out of sheet. I did some work on SolidWorks but havn't gotten too far. I have ordered some prints from the Bovington museum. Pricy but good.

Have you gotten the resistance solderer?

I have been looking at the one you mentioned, but for that money I am a little hesitant. Could it used on a box like the Pz III Kiste?

Hi Brian,

Yes I have it, but have not had much time to play around with it yet. I did try soldering a few test pieces of brass and it certainly works well and avoids de-soldering one piece while you solder the next.

Got the two tow ropes painted and fitted to the PIII today.

I started adding some of the markings to the hull this weekend.

I happen to have a Creation PCut vinyl cutter connected to my computer so I was able to draw and have the printer cut out on Avery paint mask film the two stencils required for the balkenkreuz on the sides and back of the hull. I put transfer tape on the front of the stencil to make lining it up and applying it easier.





I still need to weather them so that they don't look so "fresh", but I am quite happy with the results (although I did spray a little to much white on and created some runs when I pulled the stencil off with the paint wet).

I am happy to make up stencils for any markings you require on your models for a nominal fee (to cover materials and postage and a little bit of my time).

If you are interested PM me. I will require the vector art file from you (.ai, .eps, .cdr, .svg, .wmf, .emf, .dxf, .hpgl or .rtf) in the correct scale.

Hi All,

A few updates, I got the AA MG mount on.



A back put on the stowage bin



and the wooden isolation strips on the stowage bins.



More detailing tomorrow.

Progress continues on the stowage bin.

Today I made and mounted three new hinges to replace the ones that come with the kit to better represent the real PIII hinges.



Next will be to add two latches to the stowage bin.

Getting close to spraying the turret in the RAL 8000.

I got the RAL 8000 base coat on the turret today along with the tank number.

More markings to go on. I think the tank will be part of the 7th regiment of 10 Panzer Division.



The end is definitely in sight now. Just down to the small details, weathering and of course the installation of the electronics.

Now I feel I am in a good place to start thinking about the A34 Comet which should be arriving in the next few weeks.

Big milestone today!

My PIII moved under it's own power for the first time.

Still need to hook up the gun elevation and smoke unit and then a few small things to tie up and weathering.

Will make some video when I have time.

My PIII had it's first outdoor run today including driving out of my office and down some steps.

Still some details to finish including some more weathering.

One side of the suspension is sagging so I need to adjust that too.
