Re: Chieftain build by Phil Woollard.
Good news, we have the green light for 3D work to commence for the main engine, the geu engine and the gearbox, all being well the design and manufacturing should all be done by the end of the year!
We are still short of the dimensions of the gue engine and some good photographs, our little mode kit has no gue for reference!

And there's more.
I did have a pretty basic version on my old 1/5 Chieftain. Wish I still had the search light housing though. But this is going to be intense. And what is that cylindrical thing on the GPMG mount

John I can see why you asked about the commanders hatch being hollowed out of not, that will be a bugger if it was a solid piece! Looking at the prototype it looks like it's been done but hard to see clearly.

Re: Chieftain build by Phil Woollard.
The Chieftain arrives today so I better blow the autumn leaf litter off the drive, don't want the UPS driver getting stuck half way up do we, in the mean time better get finishing that Late Tiger 1.
The new Tx Rx arrived yesterday, I think 8 channels will suffice.
My plan is to check all the parts over the weekend whilst they are in their respective boxes, then dry fit the hull together some time next week so I can get those measurements off to Ivano. Then off we go! Has anyone actually started theirs yet?
Another interesting development, whilst discussing the model with the owner ( Martin Paul www.worldmagnetics.com ) Martin would like to incorporate one of his products some where in the model ( a unique advertising opportunity ), basically using one of their military grade pressure switches in conjunction with one of my high pressure smokers, this sensing the positive or negative pressure and possibly indicating all is well with the exhaust system , I won't say anymore for now but should be a cool addition.

Quite correct. And the wire on the the right hand side allows the commander to operate the cocking lever from within the tank.

Re: Chieftain build by Phil Woollard.
Come on Phil, 8 channels? where's your sense of adventure, 10 channels minimum.
How are you going to provide control for the Donkey sorry, GUE engine noise on off rev and a rotating cupola? not to mention switching fire
control between co axis and commanders machine gun? Then there's the side lights, main lights and search light to get control over too, not forgetting firing up and shutting down of the super smoker.
This isn't just a wonderful Tiger Tank with a fantastic winter paint job and a seriously well detailed interior.
This is Chieftain, the ultimate Armortek tank.
No, 8 channels just won't cut it.

I just had to peak at the pointy bit, that's a standard Buckingham Palace dinner party fork (Stephen will know all about where I got that) for scale.
