Hi guys.
I finally felt a little better and thought i would get back on the KT.
Confidence was high so i finally started the zimmerit.
With mixed result, the 2 component compound didnt really set enough when i started to work on it.
And as a result it was a littlemessy at the rear section..but hey:).
As a 1st time zimmeriter i can live with it :) looks like a private have done it so ill leave it hehe.

The compund was recomended by Per and was really smooth to work on after 45 -50 mins. And workable for 15 minutes.

As a total newbie on this sticky and goey matter i think it looks rather good. My fingers and pants dont :).

Thats all for now. Working on the roadwheels a´nd will probably do the front and rear tomorrow if i find the time..

Happy trails and cheers all.

Hi Freddie,

I have been watching your progress for a while now, and very impressed indeed. The Zimmerite looks great. Still waiting for my KT to arrive, July I'm told. Keep up the good work and get better.

Thank you for the kind words.

I used a 2 component epoxy (a cheap one aswell) Per Sonnervik have used it on his 1/8 scratchbuilt one and i must say its easy to use. I tried to use Milliput and Paul Morris from Pauls Tank Shop gave me some tips how to do it wich i appretiated and i will use it on the welds though :) but i found this easier as a newbie on zim.
I applied a coat of 25cm at a time and waited for 50 mins to let it harden a bit then i used Mike Stannards Toolsets and worked on it for about 15 mins wich i think was enough. Per Told me it could get hard very fast from that time. I experimented alot first though,
if you start to work it to early you clog up the tools easy and you end up cleaning more than working. And Have acetone or some cleaning fluid in a jar to clean the tools after every stroke.
Timewise about 2.5h for one side.

I will probably improve this so i will do the left side next and the front last for looks. And this one chips nicely aswell for thoose who want to go for the damage effects......hmmmmm mabey i will too :).

Hope i could help some with the short tip.
Regards
Freddie

Nice zimmerit works there mate!

Interesting choice of zimmerit material.
How hard does it become after hardening compared with Milliput?

The only setback I can see is that is very white while the real zimmerit was light grey like concrete or plaster.
No big deal as most zimmerit will be painted but there are areas on the Panther were the zimmerit was not painted
Don’t know if that was so on the Tiger II as well.
Has found a A+B epoxy putty with a good looking light grey color.
Quite expensive but a good one and I use it for creating welds as well but more of that in my (sloooow moving) Panther saga.

Also interesting to note how the zimmerit covers every space but the tool clamps on the Tiger II side pannier.
At the Panther big areas behind and close to the tools/equipment are left without.
Not that good as loosing a tool was quite common...

Cheers

Kent its Biltema super epoxy for 59.90skr and one set was enough
for one pannier :).

Freddie,
The zimmerit looks fantastic. I love the irregularities in the texture - it looks great. Wow that stuff definately goes on faster than milliput!

Man that is a BIG tank! Massive! Its going to be very impressive when you get the camo on it!

I'm enjoying your progress - great job so far!

Hi guys.
I have been up to my knees in work lately and havent goten much time for the build.
Half way thru the wheels and will be doing the rest of the zimmerit if i just can squeeze it in the schedule :).
Otherwise i will have to bring it with me on the holiday, hopefully the motionpack and the sound will arrive by then.
And i have done some changes again :), but i will tell you later.

Have a nice midsummer to all of you.
Im going to drink schnapps and eat herrings on Öland.

Hi Freddie

Great work on the T2. Just a point for you, the strap bolts on the track tow rope should be in the center of the towing eye.

The Kt is all zimm by now an im still working on som of the minors the guys ive seen been on, my cam is not working so it is a secret what im doing hope some will like it thou when im done.
Ive gone bananas on the rear deck as your bolts are hard to come by in sweden but finally im pleased....not to put ppl down but the ones ive seen are to big and no wrench could ever make it down in the groove to turn them, looks good yes indeed. But Per has contaminated me with go all out. So thats what im doing.
So most of the Kt is been brought down to pieces :(. But i was too hasty putting it together, many minor adjustments have been made
and hopefully you will all like it when done rightly.
Its going slowly though as im in and out of hospitaly....wish i didnt have to but sadly i have to go for anothr 6 months,.

Keep it up and keep going at it guys
