Just finishing up the sketch of the gue Vince, it's only going to be a 20mm slice but if we can cad the whole thing then we can use it for diorama work.

It looks like there were different versions to, so that gives us scope!

I do not recall ever seeing a bottle jack kept and used on a tank but most of my experience was supporting Challenger 1 & 2. On them if a roadwheel had to be replaced, a strut plate was used. Curved surface at the top which went under the stub axle and two teeth at the bottom that went into the track ( where the inner sprocket teeth would go ). Moving the tank a little bit would then lift the stub axle up allowing the wheels to be changed.
Maybe this strut plate was a later idea and was not available on Chieftain.
Although a crew job, my experience on exercise was that the fitter section would assist with all available manpower if we were not involved in other taskings. We wanted maximum number of tanks operational between us and any enemy.

When you break it all down you have a three cylinder diesel, so the block, the head, the sump are all boxes. Then the generator is a cylinder off the back, it looks like there is a super charger at the back next to the sump, another small box. The starter motor is the cylinder nr the top.
Then we have the diesel pump and injector unit, diesel prefilter and secondary filter.

I would ignore all the hoses and cables and pipe work, that's my job.

I will have a go at printing that bucket of yours vince, it should work on extra fine!

I recall that the generator was bolted on the back of the engine, and the starter motor for it was mounted low down at the side.

I am not going to do a whole engine. Even looking at it gave me a headache. Plus, it's too complicated for me. I finished the basic shape as per your pencil drawing the rest is up to you. After all that's what I agreed to do.
If you tell me where you want me to slice it I will then send you the file.

I can do something with that vince, could you just square off the top of the engine please, the big radius is fine up to and including the starter motor bracket, so the top of the engine is flat until it gets to that bracket, maybe just 15mm of radius. Sorry it's my crappy sketch that's the problem!

The slice is just 22mm from the very top of the engine, this unit has a dirty great radiator sat on top of it!

Yep that's looks great.
I have just posted a short video of Adrian's excellent smoker control unit, this uses the sound of the engine rather than voltage from one of the main motors to energize the smoker fan, so you can play with the revs ( so long as you set the sound module up in a particular way) which ever stick you might be using.
