Hi Vince
Well done, the barrel looks excellent. It adds another point of interest to your Tiger.
Best wishes

Changed the simulated log hanging on the side to another which is slightly thicker. It will do for now but if I find something thicker I might change it again.
Now I need to figure out where I am going to stow the homemade barb wire I am making (

After finishing my 1/6th scale barbed wire (
viewtopic.php?t=9489&start=15) I have now to decide where to put it on my Tiger 1.
The most logical (at least for me) place is at the back of the tank. There is some real estate on the left side of the back plate above the mud flap which is not used. On previous variants there was a toolbox fitted here. So let's try it here.
But then again I could hang the barbed wire coil from one of the exhaust heat shields like this:
Still have not decided where to permanently put it although one of these two positions might become my favorite. What do you think?

Looks very good, hanging on the back but not the exhaust suits I think.

How about to hang on the hull's side, top of the track guard? But it need to be spread.

Vince your Tiger is a stunner, your well documented build helped convince me to get off the sidelines and buy an Armortek tank, so thank you for sharing your story with us.
I agree with Phil on the placement of the barb wire.

Thank you Damon for your kind words.
What else can I add. Some jerrycans? I could resin print some of my home drawn jerrycans but that would mean disturbing the Zimmerit and paint to fix the brackets, which is something I definitely don't want to do. This should have been done before the Zimmerit but at that phase of my build I didn't have my own 3D models and I was too cheap to buy commercial ones.
Still, I could resin print some and leave them loose on the engine deck like I did with the two brass shell casings.

Hi Vince
The barbed wire looks good, not sure about hanging it from the exhaust though. Left rear or side above the track guard would look realistic.
I experimented with some barbed wire snagged in the track guards and the drive sprocket, will try to find the photos I took.
Great to see you are still adding detail to your Tiger.
All the best
Gary

Recently, I was admiring the photos of the cupola umbrella I had made, and patting myself on the back on a decent looking job (this guy is really humble) when something caught my eye in one of the photos.
Something did not look right with the MG34!!
Next day, off I went to check on the model and also remembered that I need to take a couple of belated measurements for Donald (sorry Donald but I had forgotten). As I suspected, the armored barrel shroud I 3d printed for the MG34 was warped / drooping.
I half suspected that something like this would happen on a long slender component like the barrel shroud (1.3mm wall thickness). Also end of July we had a seven day heatwave which I'm sure made the situation worse. The first attempt at removing the warp was by replacing the plastic barrel with a 4mm diameter solid metal rod. This actually worked. The downside was that now the shroud became too nose heavy.
To cut a long story short, I refitted the original air cooled barrel shroud and decided that my 3d printed experiment did not work out as well as I wished.
