Re: Vince's Tiger 1 late variant 2017
Guys,
you are aware that theses buckets are available in some garden centres, The Range and in Hobbycraft stores for between 79p and £1.50. They are just small Nick nacks. This has been posted several times before, but not for a couple of years.

Re: Vince's Tiger 1 late variant 2017
Still waiting for my bucket.
The first one I ordered from China never materialized. To be honest after a couple of days I got a refund and then a message from the seller that due to current situation he could not post it to my address.
So found another one closer to me (Italy) and ordered that. At the moment it is in transit so keeping my fingers crossed.
In the meantime I thought I would do something else. I wanted to find an open gurtsack for Mark Lawsons excellent MG34 cupola mount. The only one I could find was from FOA. In the photos it looks very nice but I am finding it to be too expensive especially after I add the delivery costs. Apart from that there is no guarantee that it will fit my MG mount. So, found the size of a real gurtsack on the internet and drew one that should fit my mount.
Someday I will 3d print it with liquid resin printer.

Re: Vince's Tiger 1 late variant 2017
My Ebay bucket is still in Italy either at Milan airport or Rome airport.
Having said that, yesterday, I received a bucket Martin sent me from the UK. This morning went to the workshop to hang the bucket from somewhere at the back of the Tiger.
Haven't decided which place is best yet. At first it looked to be too big for a 1/6th scale but I measured it and compared it with full size metal galvanized buckets I have here and it is spot on for scale. What can I say? I'm a happy bunny. Thanks Martin.
Have to be careful the wife does not nick it from the tank.

So next step: experiment wish washes etc. to tone the camo down and unify the colors, and add some weathering?

Marco and Mark
Maybe someday in the future if I pluck up enough courage. For now, I'm happy as it is.

Just try a small part and you'll be convinced. And hooked.

Re: Vince's Tiger 1 late variant 2017
Last week the eBay bucket arrived but I will still be using Martin's bucket as it's nicer. Wife took possession of the other one. No more fighting for the same bucket.
Today I received the SLA 3D printed gurtsack. My first ever 3D printed part and I'm impressed. It fits Mark Lawson's cupola MG mount like a glove.
Still needs painting and making a hinge for the lid from black cloth (original used a leather hinge).
Question for those of you who might have experience with liquid resin parts. Do I need to prime before painting? What glue do you use? Cyno or two-part adhesive?

Re: Vince's Tiger 1 late variant 2017
As long as it's been cleaned with IPA or a similar degreaser then a normal modelling primer should be OK. I've seen some modeller videos where they use standard grey or red oxide car primer as the base cost for 1/35 models.
Either superglue or epoxy should be fine. Superglue will set up quicker, depending on how you have to hold the parts together. The parts look quite shiny, so I'd give the surfaces a quick rub with very fine sand paper before gluing.
Adrian.

Re: Vince's Tiger 1 late variant 2017
Yep everything Adrian said. I usually primer all parts, but you don't have too on the resin ones. As long as they are clean, they can be painted directly. I like the Tamiya white fine primer for high detail plastic parts.
I prefer epoxy or rubber cement for bonding resin plastic. The cyano has the nasty white bloom - but bonds equally fine.

Thanks Adrian and Bob for the suggestions.
Bob, now I remember you showing me photos of the cyano "bloom" when you were assembling the Sterling. Totally forgot about it.

Re: Vince's Tiger 1 late variant 2017
Yes Vince that's correct. With Cyano you get instant gratification, quick bond. But the white bloom was rather bad. If I was assembling the Sterling for myself and not a quick photo shoot, I would have used epoxy or other overnight cure stuff.
I don't suppose the bloom hurts anything, although it may attack the plastic over time. The Sterling seems none the worse for wear (3 weeks or so after assy).

Re: Vince's Tiger 1 late variant 2017
I'm calling it finished.
Made the hinge for the gurtsack lid from a piece of black cloth and glued in place. Painted it and fitted to Mark's MG bracket. It's plastic (resin) but it's "close enuf" for me.
Still two items pending on the to-do list.

This wasn't planned. Made some drawings of the ammo used with the KwK36 Tiger 1 main gun.
Someday I might make them.
