Re: Schwerer Panzerkraftwagen
Thank you Simon,
I feel that the weatherning of the model after the technical construction is its own challenge that determines the character. Either it goes in the direction you imagined or completely new ideas arise in the process.
Regards
Oliver

I think your fade and wash look great! Really nice looking model. Needs a little mud (real or painted).

Re: Schwerer Panzerkraftwagen
Thank you Bob – quite right, this tank tolerate a lot of weathering up to a muddy rusty monster look but first there will be a slight touch of rust in exposed areas.
Best wishes

What about some rust?
First attempts with rust, oil paint, and pigment were messy but gave nice effects. And the best thing is, the more scratches and dirt added, the more authentic the finish becomes. As the oil paints should dry very well before further processing, this work progressed very slowly despite the isopropanol. However, this also gives you a lot of time to keep coming up with new details.

Now, let‘s get dirty...
The tank got dirtier and dirtier in the frenzy of colors and solvents.
Layer upon layer makes the weathering more and more enjoyable, deeper and more varied.

Re: Schwerer Panzerkraftwagen
Looks fantastic Oliver. I don't think you can go too far with weathering a WW1 tank - they were up to their eyeballs in mud.
Best regards,
Bob

Re: Schwerer Panzerkraftwagen
Hello Phil,
Hello Bob,
thank you very much for your compliments.
Yes, you can "dress" the model in mud and debris but in the end you hardly see anything of the original camouflage.
I'll look for a moderate way first and later – we'll see if the tank will be thrown into the quagmire ... ... ...
Best Regards
Oliver

A rusty muffler
I had saved the weathering of the muffler for a long time because I had never done anything like this before and was afraid that if the rust didn‘t look real, I would ruin the overall impression of the model by this prominent and essential detail. With a mixture of different pigments and then a careful washing, I felt my way systematically. In the end, the well-rusted muffler got a finish with „matte vanish“ to make the painting more durable and, above all, waterproof.
One could go on and on, but I have taken a short break for now.
Best Regards
Oliver

Re: Schwerer Panzerkraftwagen
When I have to double take with photos like these it really makes me smile, I thought it was a real vehicle for a minute!

Re: Schwerer Panzerkraftwagen
This fantastic work. I agree with Phil it took a lot of convincing this was not the full size tank. The bolt and bracket detail excellent.
