Hi Glen
Slightly off topic but could you tell me where you obtained that small lifting Jack that you have on your table hoist?
I have looked everywhere and haven't been able to find one.

It's quite difficult to be spontaneous with the Camoflage when there are so many wheels.I was thinking if putting tiger stripes but it isn't correct for this particular tank so that scuppered me.

Could you explain this a bit? I glued the brass bushings into the hull and torsion bar. How do you go about using the surface plate? I have an optically flat granite square I ordered for sharpening woodworking tools. Do you place it on the outside of the hull or inside?



"This is also my first Armortek build so in a sense I am also a novice but this is what I did. The brass bushes are glued in the torsion bar. To ensure that the brass bushes were flush to the torsion bar when pushed in I did it on a surface plate. A thick glass plate or a granite slab from a kitchen top will also do. When eventually inserting the swing arm in the brass bushes make sure you push it in all the way in till you feel the swing arm hitting the brass bush. The rubber O ring will create some resistance so make sure that the swing arm is pushed all the way in. And this is how it should look when the swing arm is properly seated."

I am assuming that the above question is meant for me.

I glued the brass bushes in the torsion bar before it was bolted to the hull. Took the torsion bar and decided which side was going to face the hull. Put the torsion bar on a flat surface with this face facing down on the flat surface. Applied some glue to the brass bushes and inserted in the torsion bar whilst still on the flat surface. Pushed down the brass bushes till they touch the flat surface.

Hope it makes sense.

Yes it does Vince. I rushed and glued mine in a year or so ago. Now I decided to take them out and drill and tap for the m bolts to stabilize the torsion bar ends. I have been procrastinating on the drive train.

A friend of mine made me these...
I've put cast texture on them but I'm not sure if I'm happy with them.It took him a while to machine them (they are not cast)So if I don't use them I'll feel guilty.I realise they are mostly hidden but I will know they are there.

Thoughts please before I either redrill the holes and use them or bin them.

I would use them they look much better than the kit ones.

Plus once painted and weathered they will look much better

I think you are right David,not sure about the weathering bit tho.

I've been doing some more weld seams,pretty much finished them on the lower hull for the moment I think.Im almost ready to put the final paint on the lower hull then refit the suspension and wheels.

What's not to like with those bump stops Glen?

A word to the wise though. Especially on the rear bump stops, make sure that the lower two fixing studs don't protrude more than required as they might hit the tracks. Don't ask how I know.

I've painted the outer hull,the inside needs a bit of airbrushing just to tidy it up a bit.
I've taken Vince's advise on-board and skimmed off the bolts.Ill try a little weathering but I don't want to spoil it so won't do too much.I suspect the thing maybe upside down for the last time.

Glen, in the last photo, I noticed that your M6 cap head screws are protruding much more than mine. Did you use a washer under the cap head? Will the swing arm clear the cap head?
