Loctite 480 - best place/price

Post by Philip Dunn »

I have read several posts about adhesive for fixing rubber tyres on the wheels on the Tiger I, but can people please tell me where's the best and good price for purchase, also how many do I need to do all the tyres?

Thanks for responding 👌

Hi Philip
I got mine from amazon and it's about £40 to £48 a bottle normally.
Depends on the number of tyres but in my experience one bottle is enough for a tank ( panther / comet ) as you don't need lots, just a thin layer on each rim but clean the tyres on the inner face to make sure there is no release agent from moulding.

Regards Derek

hello Philip,
eBay, £6.50 for a 20g bottle, uk seller comes with a 12 month expiry date, keep it in the fridge will last ages, that bottle will do several tanks, bonds like concrete only down side you have to work very quick as it goes of with in seconds.
hope this helps.
regards, Chris

I just used 480 on my leopard wheels, it’s fantastic stuff. I tried to remove one of the tires and it was almost impossible. One small bottle did 14 tires and the rollers on my tank. I purchased two bottles but only used one. Are you going to Armorteks open day on Saturday.

Bob Smith Industries also sells a "black rubber toughened cyanoacrylate" that should be pretty much the same as Loctite 480. Product code IC-2000, MSRP of £6.99 for 1/2 oz. (14g), but I'm seeing the 1 oz. bottle going for a similar price more or less.
