Very impressive detail and great videos. Love the railways you have in the loft & garden as well.

Re: John's Early Tiger 1
Hi Neil, railway is confined to garden at the moment. I keep most of the rolling stock in the workshop. Railway is next to workshop. This year I was focused on getting the 0 gauge running. There will be 00 gauge also on lower level.neil graham wrote: ↑Thu Nov 30, 2023 9:10 pmVery impressive detail and great videos. Love the railways you have in the loft & garden as well.

Re: John's Early Tiger 1
I have made some more progress with the Early Tiger 1. Still working on small details around the hull.
Bear in mind this Tiger is build from bits and pieces of different releases and I am filling the gaps by making required parts.
I have added a new video but I am afraid sound was all over the place. I got a new camera and am having problems getting sound from microphones balanced with camera.
The video does cover fitting of my rear mudguards which I have made specially for the early model Tiger 1.

Re: John's Early Tiger 1
Here are the latest additions to my Early Tiger 1.
I have made the components to attach the track cables to the side of the hull. These are functional.
I made wooden handles for the shovel, axe and hammer. Hopefully I will be able to get some Armorpax tool clamps to finish fitting.
I have also made a steel pry bar. A watertight cover for the engine bay hatch. I have also started work on the components for latches on the rear deck. I don’t have the parts from the kit.
I have also added my jack block.
See how it all goes together on the YouTube video and don’t forget to Subscribe to the channel.

Re: John's Early Tiger 1
I have been busy on the early tiger 1. More modifications made so hope to have another video soon.
Looking at the escape hatch in the turret, I have attempted to make operating hatches before, now with the aid of mill and lathe I am trying to improve the end result. Here are some photos of current status. Stay tuned for next video for full detail.
Still working on the hatch hinge shape and attachment.

Re: John's Early Tiger 1
I Have not had reason to moan about the Tiger Kits, indeed they seem to get better with each release. I would suggest that Armortek look at the side turret hatch and try to improve. I do not expect fully detailed but something that can be worked on by builders would I think be welcome. Armortek machines could knock these hatches a lot easier than my tiny machine.

Re: John's Early Tiger 1
I have done some work on detailing my kit turret bin. My original turret bin was the old version with white metal cast top and bottom. I picked up components from the parts piles at the factory open day enabling me to make this much lighter bin. I have added many details to enhance the kit piece. I will put a video up soon detailing the work involved in detailing the turret bin.

Re: John's Early Tiger 1
Great stuff John, really enjoy your builds and video. One the left side of the turret is a flat plate bolted next to tow cables. What is that plate for? some kind of tool for something - supporting the jack perhaps?
Best regards,
Bob

Re: John's Early Tiger 1
Hi Bob,
It’s a cover for the engine bay hatch. I guess for the for submersion to seal the hatch when feifels removed.
