North west battle group...trip to the Bulge

Post by Paul Morris »

Hi Fellas.
Got the new brochure through the post on Sat, we spoke about this at our last meeting and i would just like to find out who is really interested in going. Basic cost of a 4 day trip is £229 but we could upgrade to silver service that includes more leg room on the coach and various other bits but the main thing i think is we can go with a smaller group! now thats got to be good...i think, silver service price £289.
Here is a quick breakdown of what we get.
Day 1. Local pick up and departure towards Liege for 3 night stay.
Day 2. The bulge, American war cemetery at Henri-chapelle, then follow the rout of "Kampfgruppe Peiper" 1st SS panzer division through Bullingen, Thirimont, Baugnez {scene of the Malmedy massacre} and then Ligneuville to Stavelot and stay for lunch.
In the afternoon we travel to Trois Ponts and visit the battle of the bulge museum at La Gleize. Then on to Stoumont {the end of Peipers rout} ending the day at Werbomont and the memorial to the U.S. 82nd airborn division.
Day 3.Bastogne, Bure and Bande. We travel to Houffalize and make a stop at the German war cemetary at Recogne, then on to Bastogne historical centre with militaria and colection of preserved vehicles. We stay for lunch in Bastogne befor going to the British sector of Bure and Band and the scene of a roadside massacre. Finally a trip to the commonwealth war graves commission cemetery at Hotton.
Day 4. Back to Calais and return trip home.
If you are interested in this trip please send me a mail and i will make up a list and find out more information on deposits and exactly what meals are included etc.
This is not just open to our little group, as there are pick up points all up and down the country, so could be a really good trip and get together.
Cheers Paul.

Hi Fellas.
I think we have left this on long enough now for people to see so i will continue it on the "Events" section so i don't clutter the main page up any more.
