Hi Andy.
You must be the third or fourth to post something S1 related, welcome aboard.
So as not to hi jack an others thread I thought I should reply to your observation here.
I am obviously a lot younger than most here, as I have never driven an S1. Only later models as working vehicles with diff lock.
The la'al S1 model is permanent 4 wheel drive and there is no option to operate the free wheel system, save installing the ring pull on the floor for show.
Hats off to anyone who does(probably will) come up with an R/C version.

Chieftain No.34, functional. PKW IV (2002), operational. Panther G No.18 (2022), started, well some of it is. Series 1 4x4 No.28 and a Bailey Bridge.

I think, and I may well be wrong! Only the very early series ones had the ring pull gearbox, first 650 sticks in my mind for some reason.
