Flying Dustbin

Post by Vince Cutajar »

Recently the Conger was mentioned. Never heard of it. All I could deduct was it had something to do with the Universal Carrier and the Churchill. So an internet search was done to find out what this Conger is.

My curiosity is now satisfied and the best website I enjoyed looking at was this:

I loved it mostly because of the details on the petard. Nice drawings and in metric to boot. Could not resist so made 3D model.

The only problem I have is with the back (fin) section. A quick internet search for a good image of the Flying Dustbin only came up with one image but was not helpful for the fin section. So I had to do some educated guesses. Hope it's not far from the real thing.

I’m no Churchill expert, but I though this was interesting……

Thanks Marco and Simon for that information.

It looks like my educated guess regarding the fin section was correct. I need to amend the model to cater for a spigot of 29mm.

I'm calling it finished.

Found more photos online when I searched "flying dustbin" and not "petard".

Changed the front of the body which I totally got wrong and added two simulated seams to the main body.

My thanks to John at the Tank Museum for his help and useful info yesterday.
