Hopefully, the Armortek team take note of what is being said in these forums and take appropriate action. It would be simple enough to update a set of online instructions that could benefit people going forward. Some people may not buy a kit for a considerable time or, as in my case buy it but have to wait a fair while for time to actually get started. I can't see a reason not to publish the instructions and update them over time in light of experience.
This website is the instructions/directions, you can read and see others builds. Ask questions etc,

You don’t know what you will need help with until you start!

Hi Sean

To be honest the track Direction was completely on me at the front of the manual there are drawing of all sides of the panther showing track Direction..
And the split pin length thinking about it now I should have used a bit of common sense you have to trim them or they will foul the links.
I think I naively thought that you pretty much just bolt it together job done.
That's why I mentioned being a newbie in hope to get help and advice and it's working out perfectly.
And all the help I get can be passed on to other people to them.
I Don't want to come across negatively and sorry if I do
I am absolutely over the moon with having an Armortek it's a very exclusive club.
And I absolutely do not want to come across knocking Armortek as not being any good quite the opposite they are a bespoke marvel of engineering That needs Tweaking to get the best from it.
Hope you can get on to your build soon be nice to see other builds.

Cheers
Gary

Hi All

Thanks for the help and advice regarding the track pins.
Today's mission I have chose to accept is filing the back of the inner rims.
I went to test fit and it and the inner rim protruded slightly.
Looks like this is the first panther to get steel wheels all the others had Aluminium ones so nothing out there in build forums to check
Looks like when they are stamped they leave a ridge around a third of the Diameter of the inner rim nothing to bad.

Cheers
Gary

Hello.
when stamping / punching parts, there is an "entry side" of the punch and an exit side.
The entry side id "rounded" inward (like the small holes on your picture), and the exit side has a small ridge / burr. (as on the inner diameter of the flange).
The smaller the burr the tighter the adjustment in between the matrix and the punch
It can't be helped, as it is the way it works, shearing material in between both part of the tool
only possibility to remove burr is to put parts in a rotating bin with some particular stones ( so called tribofinishing) and not sure it would work in that case
so unfortunately all future owenrs of panthers will have clean up (a bit) the parts.. (sanding paper, file or grinding tool) (i've got to buy some then.)

regards
Didier

Hi All

Been away working this week so put a spanner in the works regarding the build.
I have managed to get one of the tracks built over the weekend stunned at how how long it is!!
Fiddly and stabbed my fingers several times thankfully figured out an easier way, hopefully get the other on built by next weekend then on to wheel assembly.
I notice that some paint the tracks and others dip them in chemical solutions is either finish very durable?

Cheers

Hi all

Managed to finish both tracks, and both spare wheels for the turret, and track links.
The wheels have proved to be quite involved filing sanding deburring etc.
I have dry fitted the wheels for the turret I put a bolt in the 12,3,6,9 o'clock position to line it up then added the rest of the bolts.
However I'm in to minds as to whether to paint both parts of the wheel separately or build them then paint..
On the paint front I see there is a wide variety of options.
This has what has been suggested to me for priming, has anyone used this product?

Cheers

Hi Gary

Were the extra wheels and track links readily available?

Probably going to need the same for mine.

Hi Malcolm

I ordered mine when I ordered the kit, however they are selling them as a kit to upgrade the older panther Aluminium wheels so I would be sure they have them in stock.
And interestingly once I completed my tracks I had 18 track pins links left and 30 odd washers and split pins over so you shouldn't need to purchase any extra.
If you speak to Monique or kian they can help you out with spare parts.

Cheers
Gary

Hi Jae-seung

Thanks very much the wheels do take a bit of work, but end result is well worth it.
Hopefully complete the wheels in the next couple of weeks and then get onto building the tank itself.
Looking forward to seeing you build.

Cheers

That looks like a high build primer - probably not something you want to use everywhere, as it will tend to go on quite thickly.

This is interesting Timo.

I have sent them an email regarding shipping to the UK, it seems that we are not listed on their website.
