Militracks 2023
Dates for Militrack 2023 are on the Militrack's web Site.
As a matter of interest, if any UK Armortek Owners took their tanks to this year's event, did you have any hassle with French or Dutch customs?

Re: Militracks 2023
I returned home ( back to Germany) after TankFest 2022 with a Tiger 1 in the trailer and was stopped and delayed by the French customs in Calais.
They wanted to know if it was capable of live-firing. I was so close to replying no it cannot, it is not a 1942 model.
After all the customs staff on duty that day had been called out to visually examine the model, they allowed me to progress.
I was expecting it so it did not bother me.

Thinking back, they did ask if it was for personal use, an exhibition piece or to be sold.

Re: Militracks 2023
When I took the Sherman BARV over for the 70th anniversary of D-Day, it sat in the boot of the Mondeo under the parcel shelf and we were waved through out and back. That was before Brexit though, which seems to have upset the French Customs for some reason.

Re: Militracks 2023
We were stopped on both sides of the Channel, Dunkirk to Dover. We reckoned it was people trafficking. Showing the Customs staff the Tanks in the Van and answering their questions, meant no further delay. Interestingly the level of scrutiny was an order of magnitude less than when attending events at RNAS Yeovilton, aa lot more thorough, and much less interested!

Re: Militracks 2023
You may be right there that they were checking for people trafficking. In the French side of the motorway from Belgium, all traffic was channeled off the motorway through a reststop. The police stopped me there and asked to see inside the boot and inside the trailer. Obliged and was on the way within 5 minutes. A car that they had stopped before I arrived was still there when I left. I presume that the driver had not been helpfull, maybe even been a bit obnoxious and the gendarmes were grateful for a bit of activity in the early hours of the morning.Steve Stuart wrote: ↑Tue Aug 16, 2022 11:15 pmWe were stopped on both sides of the Channel, Dunkirk to Dover. Re: Militracks 2023
The hassle of the cross channel crossing is more than compensated by the welcome of Militracks. Fiona and I were made very welcome at our campsite and then at the event itself by all our fellow 1/6 Tank runners, I can say a lot more, but an encouragement to make the trip next year is all that is needed? Howdy Tankies
It is definetly worth going!! Hospitality and visitors were great!
Drive area is superb, as are Kees´preparations!!
As of Chanel hopping, if you take the nighht ferries (12 pm, 2 am, 4 am) you will not meet customs in France.. (all asleep).
Cheers

Re: Militracks 2023
Hi All,
Wow this topic start early. Normal i would start it 6 months prior to the event. The dates are MAY 20&21 2023. As you can found on the website https://www.oorlogsmuseum.nl/nl/events/militracks/
The main question was about the customs. Mainly the are only for two things interested. 1 Forbidden WAR signs, mean no large signs with a swastika.
2 if it can fire pyrotechnics.
Both topics are also forbidden on Militracks.
End November will start the list for everyone who wants to participate on this event. A tip, if you want book a hotel the sooner the better.
to warm you up
kind regards Kees
