Re: Mr Dawe's Centurion.
Very interesting thread and great workmanship.
I keep seeing the reference book you are using, so being a something of a collector of Centurion-related literature, purchased a copy.
My main comment to anyone using this book: be very careful about the authors' interpretation of the images. They appear to know very little about the subject matter. I'm still tossing up whether I'll purchase Part 2, but I suppose the images will be worth it.

Plodding on through the hatches detailing and there's a lot of it inside and out.

- I have to make this inlet manifold by hand, that's a work of art that Stephen has there!

Re: Mr Dawe's Centurion.
Lovely work Phil, another masterpiece. One piece of detail to note on the engine decks. In order to prevent enemy infantry (and the tank crew) opening the decks too easily, they were made to interlock. You can see how I tackled it in these pics. Like a lot of things, it's detail you don't see externally, so not really needed but a nice bit of authenticity. Now, it's a pain when it comes to fitting the replica Meteor.

Re: Mr Dawe's Centurion.
Thanks for the advice Stephen, I did notice the interlockness and I think I can do something to replicate it.

More rear deck work, I've decided to cut and fit the rubber buffers today.

Going to town on this one !
Great detail, I don’t see anyway to improve what you have done.
Keep up the posts , it’s a great inspiration.

Steve

Re: Mr Dawe's Centurion.
I'm now very close to completing the marathon engine hatch detailing, I think number one is now done but then I see a locking aperture that needs drilling.

Nearly complete just a few more reduced heads and about .5mtr of very fiddly weld beads then I can move on.
