Churchill Mk III resources

Post by Alex Easten »

Hello all,

I thought following the news that Armortek are producing a Churchill Mk III, it might be useful to have a thread where Churchill III (and its variants) resources can be shared. For my first post, I thought this might be useful:

Cheers,

Alex

Evening Steve,

I haven't got my own copy yet, but if memories serves David Fletchers book has scale drawings of variants in it, might be a good starting point? There's always primary sources at Bovington though.

Cheers,

Alex

The reproduction of plans that Bovington should have in the book is not good enough for accurate scaling so maybe a trip to Bovington Library is needed? Thankyou for the prompt!

An up armoured Mark III with what appears to be the L50 6 pounder, quite a rare beast it seems! Most 6 pounders in the ETO seem to be Mark IV's.

Cheers,

Alex

I have ordered the Churchill and intend to add detail to the tank when I build it, Does any one have the dimensions and details of the Auxiliary fuel tank on the back of the tank. I have looked everywhere on the net and have been unsuccessful, I have also ordered Mr Churchill's tank from the states hoping to get enough details from the book, if any one can help it would be greatly appreciated.

Given that "Mr Churchills Tank" was written by David Fletcher, there's not much in there apart from what I would imagine is in the Churchill Plans Pack.

I didn't spot any dimensions for the auxiliary tank :-(

if you can find the capacity, it should be possible to work backwards using "volume = π * r2 * h" until it looks right.

Thanks for that, I Have ordered the book, I was mainly interested in the mounting brackets as the fuel tank can be scaled and there is enough photos of tanks fitted with it, also the end details are clearly visible in some photo's, the other way is to buy a 35th scale tank and scale the fuel tank up.
