Post by Helderluiss »

I found this model in Spain and came to discover that it is the same one that was assembled by Luc De Weirdt. It is very far from what it was initially, with lots of damages inclunding eletronics but I intend to bring it back to life, lets see how it goes :|

 Hello Helderluiss ( i hope it is your right name  )
I have a 1/35 Centurion model from AFV. It is very helpfull. For example: The covers from the engine compartmet and the gear box/cooler compartment are in the lenght very different. But the turret is at the right place :).
My recommenation: Following Stephens reprot. That is the best. I had done it - may times.
All the best

Thanks for the advice Frank, I will do as you say. My knowledge of metalworking is very limited and I have been falowing here on the forum several master works that blows me away  My lack of equipment will force many pieces to be handcrafted. For now, I'm still in the cleaning phase

Ps: The name is Helder Luis

Hi Helder
I'm enjoying the rebuild, nice to see a refreshing Cent build,/re build. Looking forward to the mods, lots a great builds on the forum for reference.

New rebuilds are just as interesting as brand new builds, sometimes exposing weaknesses and possible improvements.

I hope it came apart easily, looking a my Chieftain on the bench I wonder how anyone would tackle taking it apart on a future rebuild, I've added extra fixings to hold it together, some hidden. I'm sure they'd be a few choice words if it ever happened.

Looking forward to seeing the transformation and its next/final colour scheme.

(I did think looking at the first pictures, although a little rough pretty much a tank on a battle field.) :D

Very true.

I've got the David Skeldon's wonderful Cent BARV on the table at the moment and it's like doing key hole surgery.
I haven't tried yet but I don't think the batteries will come out of the holes in the top. I might have to split the upper and lower hulls to swap them

Adrian.

Its certainly a lot easier to "seal" models up when building.
An engineering nightmare especially where batteries are involved
I enjoy building access points where possible.
The use of tiny stong magnets definatly in my thoughts.to hold recessed panels in place for access on Chieftain, especially the turret roof.
On my Centurion there is the clever use of the ariel mounts to retain the turret roof.
