Towing

Hi everyone,

Maybe a silly question, but I have seen several video's of Armortek tanks being towed by other tanks.
Is that something that 'just' can be done? Or do you make some kind of provisions to do so?

With the new high efficiency gearboxes, it's possible to tow one tank with another, as long as you do it slowly.

I would recommend disconnecting the motors, otherwise they act as generators and can power the electrics up.

I have towed a T-34/85 with the Sherman BARV at from the car park to the display area at Bovington, and had my T-34/76 towed by a King Tiger on a field at a show without any problems.

With the older Parvalux motors and gearboxes, there's too much internal resistance to allow the tracks to turn, though you might be able to drag it

Generating current was one thing i wondered about, but being able to pull into the gear ratio was something i thought wouldn’t work. But it does
I’ll keep it in mind for if i might need to do it once. Unplug the motors and tow slowly.

It's much much easier to pull a track pin from each track and run the tank on just the road wheels.

Then there is very little friction and no possibility of damage to the motors and electrics.

On most Armortek models it will only cost you a pair of 1mm split pins, and the pain of putting the tracks back on

Well that's a solution too indeed, perhaps a good one if I have to pull it by hand...
