As some of you may have read on Facebook, we ended up buying the tank from Cancer Research. Not something we would normally do, but this was for a very worthy cause.

The tank has been with us for a couple of months now whilst we decided what to do with it - last week we decided to turn it into a running model in an Eastern Europe camo scheme with some battle damage.

As you will see from the pictures below, the tank is a 2014 (mid production) kit. We will replace the turret turn copper ring with a ball bearing system, but apart from that retain/ fix/ complete some of the modifications that the original owner had made.

This will be a project over a few months as workload allows, but will post updates here and on facebook as they happen.

Pictures below show the tank before we got started.

First job has been to remove some of the old weld seams, key the surface, re-do the weld seams, apply a grey base coat and then start the weathering layers.

And the final look. All that's left is to put some motors in it.

What a wonderful thread.

What a wonderful gesture from Armortek to purchase the model from Cancer Research.

And with my wife having gone through treatment for cancer recently, the make-over and paint scheme look extremely appropriate.

Pristine and gorgeous when new, but now aged, worn down, run out, damaged but still fighting on and still beautiful to the eye of the beholder.

I also do extremely like the markings & weathering on the glacis plate.
It stands out to me like "Help"

Well done, Armortek !!
