Hi All,

Its starting to look a lot like a Carrier. Almost finished the body bolt together and have enough to size up and start making some of the interior parts. I can't comment on the running gear yet but this has been one of the easiest metal builds I have done and apart from filing a couple of laser tags this has all been done with Allen keys and nut spinners plus plenty of scratches which is a normal part of me and anything metal :-) All the holes have lined up and looks to be the same for the many rivets I will eventually have to fit. I have not had to ease any locations. As suggested by Adrian I bolted together loosely then tightened once all the main bits were in the right place.

I won't go too much further with the body until I have made all the masters for new parts as may need to remove the odd bit. I would also rather wait for the motion packs before final assembly. Looking through the various drawings, pics and books I have the only area I may be modifying the metal is the Front armour around the Bren opening. Everything else I think is going to be an add on.

Best regards

Dave

Nice one Dave looking good.
Seeing the outside of the carrier there needs to be fittings for the deep wading kit, fasteners for the rear bin (which held three 37 small packs and an officer hold-all), and a canvas trough used for holding the camouflage net.

Ok, couldn't resist opening the running gear packs. These have gone together as easily as the rest of the kit, slight easing of the spring cut ends but that's it. The axle will need to come apart again when I get the motion pack and only dry fitted a couple of tyres for now. I am liking this model.

Best regards

Hi All,

A little bit of precision work on the frontal armour this morning with a 4" Grinder. Also repositioned the Spare Wheel post. Our Delco batteries just needed a bit of sanding on the sides and they have fitted into the battery box :-)

Dave do you plan to hollow out the kit aluminium casting at the gun station or make a new one?
