Working out the vehicle stencils for the large unit id numbers, not as straightforward as you would think!

I've also been doing some more research on 331 and have found some very interesting photos showing the spare track stowage at the front.

Update on the parts I've ordered, the steel tracks are still awaiting a flight out of Oz, the idlers the same and the engine is on its way for Italy. 8) oh and stab antennas and bases from Mark.

I can't quite see the brackets that hold the spare track, some units used welded flat stock in pairs some units simply wired them to the hull.

I believe that last picture is from the so called "Türkenübung" (Turkish exercise), when the Germans tried to make such a good impression on neutral Turkey as to make it join the war on their side, cutting off the Allies from Palestine and north Africa. Very convincing!
Five stars! :D
But they had a different backdrop in the movie...
A little too much is about right...

That iconic profile is coming together, although she's not sat on the suspension just yet so she will sit lower, more squat and more aggressive. I shall wait for the steel tracks to arrived before that happens.

Hi Phil
I have a question, the tanks in the group of photos retrieving 332 from the bog of which your 331 is part of, and the photos of them parked in the orchid give the impression that they are grey?
I acquired a 332 assembled from Alaska and it was painted in the grey, I have also seen other colourised photos from the group in the sand colour, so which is the right colour?

Thanks
Liam

Good question Liam, I think from many hours of research that the general colour combination was a yellow green with a green camo tiger pattern over. It's a bit like tiger 131, remember all the controversy over that colour combination decision!
Now I could go darker with 331's green but I want to keep it very subtle. I've done very little shading and no washing as yet as that will evolve over time when I can just sit and look at it.

Idlers look impressive. Are those representing the large (700mm) idlers?

Yes Vince and the quality is amazing, it takes 3d printing to yet another level. They have to be machined with conventional tooling to finish. I can see Armortek using this medium in the future. 8)

I've fitted the superb idlers from Liam, and don't they look good? The steel tracks, well 60% of them are lost at the Coventry international freight hub. So God knows what's happening there! I'm now ringing them every other day to try and get to the bottom of the problem but I speak to a different office every time I get through, and nobody seems to know what's going on, the term " tossers " springs to mind!
As soon as she's finished I will shoot some video of my favorite Tiger 1. 8)

I'm back one the early tiger 1. An update on the steel tracks, Liam is now waiting for one of the boxes he sent to me last year to arrive back at his after a complete cock up with a tracking number miss labelling at our Coventry import hub. This lead to the package being sent all the way back to oz! These things are sent to try us.

Good news, Liam has posted the package again which contains the rest of the steel tracks, I do feel for you mate, it's hard enough making a few bucks from our hobby without crap from incompetent carrier companies, most are very good but it only takes one!
Anyways some more work done to 331's engine and engine bay. 8)
