Re: Help please
Thanks Jerry
Everything you said is true
Because this is my first model wanting to make the right purchase and keep finding questions to ask
I have built live steam locos in the past and traction engines looking for something different
Thank you for replying

Re: Help please
I have to agree with you Jerry on your summery of owning bigger scale model Tanks, the Driving and expectations of what the vehicle can and cannot do, as i have said before these models are very lifelike to the real vehicle, weight and performance, and behave accordingly, Elefant or Jadgtiger both a superb choice, regards simon manning.

Re: Help please
Hi Paul
It may be worth looking at the history of both tanks and decide from that. I had the same decision to make as yourself before deciding on the Elefant. The reason I chose the Elefant over the Jagdtiger was that the Elefant has a far better combat history and was operational for a much longer period.
I have built many Armortek Tanks and they all build into very impressive and authentic models. Each vehicle has its plus and minus points during the build be there’s nothing that cannot be overcome with a bit of effort.
Hope this helps you a little but whatever you choose you won’t go far wrong.
Regards
Steve

Re: Help please
Both cool models, I would say just flip a coin, either one will be an awesome tank to have, my choice was the Stug 111, there is not a tank I would want in its place.

Re: Help please
Hi Paul,
Buy and build both of them——— in different time schedule of course.
Otherwise, later on a thought will bother you like "Why didn't I buy the other one...?"
It is my experience.

Re: Help please
Paul,
Those who have posted in response to you have, to be honest hit the nail on the head, and I can only echo their sentiments. Build the model that gets you excited, both the Elephant and Jagdtiger are brilliant subjects and excellent models. Armortek models are a bit like Pringles, mind you, once you pop, you can't stop. I've been collecting since I was 18 and my next model (hopefully an Easy Eight Sherman, if it gets released) will be my 6th model.
The forum is an incredible resource and grows every year, we're lucky to have one of the most active and helpful member bases that currently exists, and I have no doubt any queries you may have will be answered by friendly and knowledgable people.
Let us know which model you decide on, and please consider posing your build. Posting a build, while I haven't done it myself yet, seems to encourage the builder to keep going, and queries you may have can be answered directly in your thread.
So when you start to think about your second Armortek model..once the bug bites, here's a game I play with myself, maybe other's play it in their head too, it certainly helps me justify each model I buy. Go away and research tanks to your hearts content. Then, when you've got an idea of what you would like to build next, write a list of 3-5 tanks, your short list. If that model gets released/rereleased, its then oh so easy to justify raiding your savings!
Enjoy the journey, and welcome!
Alex

Thank you Alex
that makes sense I am just starting my Pak 43/41
So looking at adding some pictures of the build as others have said I will research over the Christmas period and won’t be in the workshop to much and go from there don’t won’t to rush and buy the first thing
Are there many groups in the Uk that people go to or shows
Not at the minute because of COVID
Many thanks

Re: Help please

As other members said do some more resaerch
So over the cold winter months will do some more research and may be they might announce some new models
I keep looking to see if anybody is selling a model in the for sale page
Would like an inbuilt kit really

Re: Help please
Paul -
I'm firmly in agreement with Jerry, if that helps. There are the engineers amongst us who just enjoy the challenge of building these things, but for most of us (if you read the forum posts) it has to be a labour of love. I knew of Armortek for years before I made the jump, and that was because they produced the WW1 Mark IV, which was very close to my heart. If you've researched it, and appreciate it, you'll make a better job of it - or at least a job that you'll be satisfied with.
Of course, the particular model that lights your fire may never have been produced, or was made some time ago and is long out of production. So you're right to study the For Sale page. But, if you decide that there's one particular model from Armortek's long history that you really fancy, why not post up a 'Wanted' thread ? Someone might have what you're looking for, and want to trade it to get something else .... that's how I got my Quad. Or you might just have to wait - these things are expensive, and you want to feel your money has been well spent, don't you ?
As for shows (in 'normal' times ), there are plenty of opportunities. Try and get together with your local owners, and then seek out local museums, model shows and the like that might welcome a display. Club-wise, the two big ones are the UK Tank Club and the Southern Armour Group. Membership of either is around £20 a year, but that includes Public Liability Insurance which is absolutely essential if you're going to play around where the Public are. The Big Show down south is Tankfest at Bovington at the end of June, where Armortek and the two aforementioned clubs always have display areas. It's always a well-attended event - let's hope normality returns by 2021.
Hope this helps, and I look forward to meeting up with you in saner times,
Chris

Re: Help please
Buying new is wonderful, having the option to choose the model you want is as good as it gets.
A blank canvas, not always a bed of roses. but little wins at each stage, culminating in an achievement that you'll cherish for a long time.
